Chapter 296
cilla’s POV
The carriage stopped at the familiar gates; the gammas keeping guard there peeked inside, one of their eyes widening when they saw me. I barely spared him a glance; my eyes were kept forward, and I felt hollow on the inside.
The large sign that read “Welcome to Silver Moon Pack” was on full display, shining brightly under the evening light.
It felt like I hadn’t been here in years when, in reality, it’s only been a few months. This place used to be my hone … it used to be my comfort. But now it felt like I was arriving in a stranger’s pack.
Unfamiliar territory.
The carriage moved forward, and I felt my stomach dropping even further. The gates opened, and once we were within the territory grounds, they closed behind us.
The carriage took us around the windy and familiar roads; we went over the green hills and through the variety of houses that different pack members owned. The Beta’s house was the largest, besides the packhouse, of course.
We traveled through the pack square where multiple familiar faces spotted me through the carriage window and their eyes widened in shock. I’m sure none of them expected to be seeing me again… at least not this soon.
They probably thought the King would have killed me by now.
Honestly, I was thinking the same thing when I first left.
Once we reached the packhouse, the carriage stopped in front of the large porch steps. The gammas got out of the front and went around the back, opening the door.
We’ve been traveling for hours, and my entire body felt stiff from sitting in one position for so long. One of the gammas offered me his hand to help me out, but I ignored it… not wanting any help.
He curled his fingers in, moving them to his side as he watched me slide out of the carriage. My bones popped as I stretched, trying to adjust to this new position and the change in temperature.
“Get her bags,” the gamma said to the other one.
He frowned.
“She doesn’t have any bags,” the other gamma whispered in response.
“What do you mean she doesn’t have any bags?” the first gamma asked, his eyes narrowed.
“She didn’t bring anything with her.”
His frown deepened even more.
