Chapter 289
cilia’s POV

“Oh, my goddess,” Cora gasped as she stood to her feet. “Claira!”
Claira kept clutching her throat, her eyes wide and glussy as she struggled to breathe. Every breath she sucked in, she couldn’t release it. Her lips trembled, and suddenly, she fell out of her chair and onto the ground, a small whimper escaping her.
Jasmine was quick to move; she hurried to get someone to help while Cora tried to get Claira to breathe. I had no idea what was happening; I stared at the tea she had just drunk, my mind a whirlwind of thoughts.

What was in that tea to make her have a reaction like this?
Jasmine returned only a moment later with Landon in tow, along with a couple of gamma warriors. They looked at one another, confused for a moment, before they turned back to Claira. One of them bent down and touched her cheek. She whimpered as she struggled to take another breath.
“We need to get her to the hospital unit,” Landon instructed.
The gammas nodded in agreement as one of them scooped her up and started to carry her off. Landon’s eyes followed them before he turned back to us, his eyes starting to narrow as he focused his attention on me and me
alone.
“What happened?”
“I… I’m not sure,” I said, my brows furrowed in confusion. “She took a sip of my tea… and then she just… passed out.”
Landon glanced down at the tea with a frown and then picked up the mug. There were broken pieces of a mug inside what remained, and a little tea left as well. He took a whiff of the tea, his brows furrowing even more before he lifted his gaze to meet mine.
“Wildflower orchard,” he commented, making my heart stop in my chest.
“What?” Cora gasped, her eyes wide. “Claira is highly allergic to that flower. Why would it be in the tea? I thought the palace kitchen was aware of that allergy.”
“They are,” Landon said, his tone deepening. “It shouldn’t have been served. It’s been banned from palace grounds because several she-wolves are allergic.
I was highly allergic as well; if Cora hadn’t taken a sip of the tea… it would have been me. The thought filled my stomach with dread, but then I became consumed with worry for my friend.
“Will Claira be okay?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Only time will tell. I’m sure the healers will do everything that they can for your friend,” Landon said, pulling his eyes away from me. “I need to go investigate how that flower made its way through the palace gates and why the chefs would use it in a tea.”
On that note, he turned and started to walk away.
Everything inside of me was numb, and I was overly exhausted from just this morning alone.
“We should head down to the hospital unit,” Jasmine suggested.
Cora nodded in agreement; I just stood there, staring down at my teacup, feeling nothing but numb.

Leopold’s POV
I was in my study when Landon entered; he looked tired and like he had run his fingers through his hair multiple times.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“There was an incident in the tearoom,” he told me, his voice filled with sorrow.
Annoyance radiated off me.
“What kind of incident?”
“There was Wildflower orchard in the tea,” he said. “And one of the concubines drank it.”
I pressed my lips together.
“I thought we banned that flower from palace grounds because it triggered too many allergic reactions.”
He nodded.
“Yes, we did,” he confirmed. “Which is what I mean by incident. The concubine was allergic and ended up in the infirmary.”
I sighed as I stood.
