Chapter 262
Cecilia’s POV
I should have stopped it.
I shouldn’t have let him devour my mouth as if my lips were made for him.
And I certainly shouldn’t have let him pull me closer.
But I couldn’t help myself.
Everything just felt charged, and the way he took control- wrapping his arms around my waist and tugging me even closer, pressing me against the tree and kissing with all this heated passion… There was a huge part of me that didn’t want it to end.
The thought of Sophia getting this type of relationship with him… getting to be his wife, his Luna Queen, made my chest tighten with agony. This was the closest that Lora had been to the surface since we last shifted. She was thrilled to be this close to Warren and Leopold, even if Leopold wasn’t mentally here.
He wasn’t our mate, and yet she was acting as if he belonged to us.
Like we belonged to him.
His bare chest was pressing into mine, and I could feel every muscle, every toned ab that he had to offer. I couldn’t help but trace the ridges with my fingers, loving how it felt against my skin. It was electric and everything I never knew that I needed.
His warmth engulfed me in a warm cocoon, and I practically melted against him. I mewed against his lips, needing to get closer… desperate for a release I knew only he could give me.
He lifted me, and I wrapped my legs around his waist to steady myself. I could feel the corner of his lips lifting as he continued his torturous expedition on my lips.
I felt the fabric of my dress loosen as he undid the buttons on the back, and suddenly the cold air attacked my flesh, sending a chill up my spine.
He pulled back slightly; the gold in his eyes darkening as he stared into my eyes. His breathing was heavy, and his lips were swollen from my mouth’s assault. I’m sure mine were just as swollen.
“Stay with me,” he breathed, his voice deep and raspy.
I felt my cheeks warming from his scrutiny, the energy between us crackling, and for a moment, I had no idea what he was talking about.
“After the wedding,” he clarified. “Don’t leave… just stay.”
And just like that, the small bubble we found ourselves in burst.
At that moment, I remembered something extremely vital. If it was just me, I might consider staying… but it wasn’t just me. I had to think about my unborn baby.
I knew what I had to do, but the look on Warren’s face was nearly my undoing.
“Just hear me out, Cecilia,” he all but pleaded, sensing my hesitation. “Stay with me… we can be together. Leopold can play happy marriage with Sophia… and me and you can be together.”
“You know it doesn’t work like that, Warren,” I breathed, finally managing to pull away from him, attempting to

fix my dress to cover myself. I needed to gain some distance between us before he roped me back in. “You’re a package deal.”
“We don’t have to be,” he said, shaking his head. “Leopold and I… we are different. You know we are. We can’t communicate anyway… so think of us as two separate beings. There’s a way we can both be happy.
I wanted to laugh at the absurdity of his words. I shook my head and stared into his eyes, my heart practically in my throat, but I refused to give in to this insane idea of his.
“And Leopold found out?” I asked. “Would be as good as dead, Warren. Are you willing to risk my life for sex?”
He looked as if I had slapped him.
“You think that little of me…”
It wasn’t a question.
“Of course not, I tell him automatically. “But it’s how it’ll look. I care for you deeply and want you to be happy, but the backlash isn’t worth all this, and you know it. You’re the King, and you must lead by example. Don’t be the kind of man who publicizes his mate bond and then keeps a mistress on the side. You are better than that.”
I stepped closer to him when I saw the defeat in his eyes; he knew I was right.
“I don’t think I can do this without you,” he whispered, his eyes closing when I reached up and brushed my fingers through his messy hair. “I’ve been so lonely until you arrived. Now, I have someone to talk to…”
