Chapter 248
Not since I left,” Landon breathed as we rushed down the stairs. “But he was unstable.”
I didn’t understand why Warren was out of control so suddenly these last few days when he hadn’t been out of control in so long prior.
“What triggered it?” I asked once we reached the bottom step.
“I am unsure,” Landon replied.
He led me around the corner and down another corridor until we reached the banquet hall.
I could hear screaming and crying before we even reached the doors, and my entire body tense. The loud growl of Warren cracked through the haze and a chill ran up my spine.
“I hate red!!!” I heard within his growl.
My heart dropped, the irises.
I rushed into the room where I saw a couple of the concubines and a few of the slaves crying and trying to hide from him. But it was no use; he would be able to find them with ease. The irises were scattered across the floor, and the table was turned upside down.
Food was everywhere, and plates were broken.
“It’s worse than it was when I left,” Landon said, shaking his head. “I have no idea what’s causing this outburst. He’s been so good lately.”
Warren’s head whipped around to one of the slaves, growling loudly.
She was whimpering and crying, trying her hardest to shield her face.
Just as he lunged at her, I lunged towards him, wrapping my arms around his and trying to steady him.
“Your Majesty, please!” I yelled, my voice cracking slightly.
“Cecilia!” Landon tried to warn, but I didn’t listen to him.
I tightened my hold on Leopold’s arm, hoping that it would be enough to ground him.
“You have to calm down,” I tell him, trying to keep my voice steady, “You are going to hurt somebody.”
“Must kill,” Warren growled; his eyes were blazing red with fury, and his lip was curled in disgust as he spat those words. The venom in his voice was enough to send a chill down my spine, but I swallowed down the fear and stood my ground as I stared up at him.
“You have to calm down,” I repeated. “Just step back.”
He was about to pull his arm out of mine, his claws were elongated, and I knew he wanted to tear that slave into pieces. She knew it too because once she saw his sharp claws, she started to sob and plead for her life… apologizing for something she didn’t even know what she was apologizing for.
“I hate it,” he growled, and I knew I was the only one who could hear him. “I hate the color… it must go… it must die. They all must die.”
I turned to the other slaves who were crowding in the corner, shivering. The concubines managed to make their way towards Landon and were hiding behind him with their eyes wide and their bodies trembling.

“Get rid of the irises,” I demanded, my voice coming out way more powerful than I had ever heard it.
ey looked at me with confusion before glancing at the flowers scattered across the ground.
“Do not make me repeat myself,” I said, pointing at the red flowers. “Get rid of them. It’s triggering him. He doesn’t like these flowers. Now get rid of them.”
They nodded, though their bodies still trembled violently as they moved. They worked at picking up each flower, their hands shaking as they did so.
I turned my attention back to Warren and stepped between him and the slave he was about to attack.
“Look at me,” I say calmly.
Warren finally looked at me, his eyes still red, and yet they were focused.
“You have to stop this,” I say softly. “They didn’t know. They are getting rid of them.”
