The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 240

Chapter 240

Cecilia’s POV

“Sorry, Mam. We’ve been extremely busy,” one of the healers said as she walked over to Diana.

“That isn’t an excuse,” Diana sneered. “Do you have any idea who I am? My daughter is going to be the Queen and you’re too busy to treat me?”

“No, of course not,” the healer said quickly. “I apologize, truly. I meant no disrespect, Madam.”

“I demand to be seen right away, or I will tell the King, my future son-in-law, that his healers are incompetent and should be disposed of immediately.”

“Of course,” the healer said, bowing her head, her body trembling as the weight of what Diana had threatened crashed over her. “May I ask what it is you need?”

Diana lifted her finger.

“I have a paper cut that I need treatment for,” she said, making the healer lift her head and furrow her brows.

“I’m sorry?”

“Am I speaking a different language?” Diana snapped, pulling her hand away to rest it on her hip. “I have a paper cut, and I need it to be treated.”

I noticed the look on some of the other healers’ faces as they overheard what was being said and tried to process it.

I knew we were all thinking the same thing.

Was she really making a fuss over a paper cut?

“If not treated soon, it’ll scar,” Diana explained, her eyes narrowing. “And I refuse to be damaged with scars.”

“Of course,” the healer said, though her tone was less certain now. “You can sit on one of the beds and I’ll-”

“I absolutely will not be sitting on one of those filthy beds,” Diana hissed, her eyes turning into angry slits. “I want my own room.”

“All the rooms are filled up,” one of the other healers said, folding her arms across her chest. “By actual patients.”

Diana’s top lip curled as she glared at that healer from across the room.

“And I am a VIP patient… I demand my own room, or I will make sure this clinic gets shut down permanently. Don’t forget your place. You are all practically glorified slaves, and soon, you’ll be answering to my daughter, which means… you’ll be answering to me. You’d better get in line now or else.”

“The King would never allow that to happen,” the healer across the room retorted, her own eyes narrowing.

“Is that something you’re willing to risk?” Diana challenged. “I’m willing to bet that the King would do just about anything for his mate if she were to ask.”

“We don’t want any problems,” the first healer said, bowing her head again. “I’ll go see what I can do. Just wait here, and I’ll be right back.”

“I’ll come with you,” the other healer, across the room, said as she made her way towards the front of the bay.

“About time,” Diana murmured, scowling at the two healers as they left the room.

Diana’s eyes finally found mine, and when she saw me, she scowled.

cecilia, what are you doing here?” She asked, stepping closer to my bed. “Don’t tell me… you’re pretending to be sick to get the King’s attention? That’s truly pathetic, even for you.”

I had to stifle an eye roll.

“I’m not pretending anything, Dlana; it’s none of your business as to why I am here,” I tell her, looking away

I truly did not want to engage in a conversation with this woman.

“You’ve always been good at faking illness and injuries,” she muttered, shaking her head. “You used to fake injuries all the time when you were young. When will you ever learn that lying gets you nowhere? You’re nothing but a waste of time.”

I let out a laugh, which surprised even me. It sounded bitter and unlike any sound I had ever made before. /

“I’m the one wasting time? You’re using the palace staff and resources because you have a paper cut. Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?”
