Chapter 114
Cecilia’s POV
“Oh, Cecilia. I was told you weren’t going to be attending lessons anymore. So, I didn’t put your name on the roster,” Madam Isa said as she approached.
The chatter around me fell silent, and I was wildly aware of everyone’s attention on me. I felt heat creeping up the back of my neck, but I tried to ignore it.
“Who told you I wasn’t attending classes anymore? The ceremony is only a few days away,” I tell her, more confused than ever.
She frowned and cocked her head to the side as she stared me over.
“The King,” she told me.
This got a few giggles and some murmurs around me.
My eyes widened, and my heart stopped in my chest; why would King Leopold tell her that I wouldn’t attend these lessons anymore?
“It seems that the King’s favored concubine is no more,” Vivian said, a grin spreading across her face. “I wonder what happened to change his mind.”
I turned to look at her and saw her suppressing a laugh. I pressed my lips together and folded my arms across my chest.
“I’m sure there’s a misunderstanding. Seems to be a lot of those happening lately,” I tell her, giving her the indication that I knew exactly what she had done.
She staged it so the Gammas would show up in my room at the exact moment that Jax was there. She convinced Jax to sneak in through my window. She wanted it to look like I was sneaking a guy into my room to get me in trouble with the King. But thankfully, it didn’t work.
At least I didn’t think it did.
Then why would he make Madam Isa take me off the roster for the rest of training when we only had a few days left?
My chest felt tight, but I tried to keep my composure.
“I should speak to the King and find out why he wanted me to be removed from the roster then,” I say, trying to keep my head held high and a smile on my face, even though I knew with certainty that it wasn’t reaching my eyes.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Vivian sneered, her eyes narrowing. “He removed you from the classes because you don’t need them anymore. He doesn’t want you at the ceremony. You aren’t worth being in the running, and he’s finally now seeing that.”
This earned a couple of snickers from her friends, who nodded in agreement.
“Don’t be stupid, Vivian,” Jasmine said, folding her arms across her chest. “The King wouldn’t give up on her like that.”
“Oh, really? Then explain why he doesn’t want her in this class anymore,” Vivian said, the corner of her lips tipping up into a
smirk.
I went to say something… anything, but closed it when another voice sounded from the entryway.
“I’m sure I can shed some light on the situation,” Landon said as he approached.
He walked in with his head high and his eyes narrowed, like he was walking with authority, and the entire room immediately fell silent upon seeing him.
“Oh, good. Someone can answer some questions,” Madam Isa said, smiling at Landon. “It’s good for you to bless us with your presence, Landon.”

I apologize for being late. I got held up in a meeting with the King and some important noblemen,” Landon explained, bowing his head slightly to her.
