Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 72

Chapter 72

Lillian’s POV

Grayson just continued to stare at me, no reaction. Nothing to say.

“Now that we are marked…” I said, pressing on as best I could, trying to be brave when I immediately wanted to cave and forget this entire conversation. But I could still feel the warmth of his embrace from the night before Being without it now was a keen loss. If we weren’t going to try to be mates for real, then we shouldn’t tease ourselves with fleeting and insincere moments of softness. “I think we should maintain our original boundaries

Grayson blinked. “Okay…? I don’t see a problem with that. Do you think you will be able to restrain yourself from attempting to seduce me again?”

My cheeks burned. “I… The heat was difficult, but without it, I can manage.”

“Then we should be fine,” he said, dismissively.

“What about you?” I asked.

“What about me?” he replied.

“Do you think you will be able to… hold yourself back?” I asked.

He scoffed. “When have I ever not?”

“Last night,” I said.

He stilled. “I did not.”

“You did,” I said. “You reached out for me in the night.”

“No, you pressed into me,” he said. “I was merely humoring you.”

“No,” I insisted. “You started it this time.”

He shook his head, denying it down to his core. “Not possible. You are the one who always tries to curl into me. I would never initiate.”

He seemed certain, despite my knowing otherwise. But he’d been asleep when he’d reached for me. Here he was, telling me that he would never do such a thing while he was awake. Those words tainted all the softness of the night before, fully ruining how close we had been, how good it had felt to be held.

The strength in our bond waned again, though maybe it had never been as strong as I had thought it was to begin with. To him, I was nothing but a nuisance to be humored.

He didn’t want to hold me. Even with our bond. That was what he was saying,

Gods, it hurt so much.

I pushed down those feelings, burying them deeply.

“Fine,” I said, attempting to emulate his indifference. I wasn’t as good at it as he was, but I did my best. “I understand, and I won’t overstep again.”

“Good,” Grayson said stiffly.

“Great,” I replied.

“Fine,” Grayson said.

Beside me, his wolf whimpered.

Instinctively, I placed my hand on its head, hoping to offer comfort. It leaned into my palm.

Grayson frowned deeply, and I waited for him to scold his wolf again. This time, he did not.

Grayson’s POV

It took every ounce of willpower and strength in my entire body not to reach out for Lillian. She had no idea the hold she had over my thoughts. Memories of our night together were driving me to distraction. I had hardly been able to do anything but imagine her naked, stretched out on my bed as I licked and tasted her, claiming her with

my tongue.

Her noises haunted not just my every waking moment, but also my dreams.

Though we had satisfied her heat, my lust for her was not sated. Not even slightly.

Worse, this wasn’t just about sex. Yes, I wanted to tear off her clothes, pin her beneath me, and fuck her as she screamed my name and promised to be mine. But, just as much, I wanted to hold her tenderly afterwards, to lick away any marks I made, to keep her safe in the circle of my chest, against the wall of my arms.

I wanted to bend her over this desk, or push her against the wall and fuck her through it. Just as much, I wanted to hold her hand, or place my hand on the small of her back. I wanted to hear her laugh as much as I wanted to hear her moan, and everything was getting all jumbled up in my head.
