Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 160

Chapter 160

Lillian’s POV

I woke with a feeling of warmth and safety surrounding me, flooding me with positive feelings. Turning in our shared bed, saw Grayson, his arms around me, his cheek pressed against the back of my shoulder.

It had been like this now for a handful of days, ever since we had been reunited in the gardens. I had moved back into our room after that, to Josie’s delight. Since then, Grayson had shown more dedication to us, making sure to set time aside for us to chat, even if only for a few minutes every night and in the morning. He stayed through the entire night, too, never leaving before I could awaken.

Things weren’t perfect. I still didn’t understand his friendship with Odette, and he still seemed annoyed with my friendship with Ben. We had chosen peace over war, often avoiding conversations when maybe we should have confronted them head on. But for now, with the effort he was putting in, I was more than happy with how things were.

Especially when they gave me mornings like this.

“Grayson,” I whispered.

He grumbled. “I’m not ready to wake up yet.”

“The sun is up, and we both have breakfast events.”

“They can wait.”

I huffed, endeared. “I’m not sure -”

He pressed up to his elbows and leaned over me to kiss me, silencing any worry I had been

about to make.

“There is nothing more important in those moment than pleasing my wife.”

“Pleasing me how?” I asked.

His lip quirked slightly before he pushed himself down, disappearing under the blankets. “ Grayson!” I gasped as I felt him adjusting, pressing my legs apart as he moved to the space between them. He pulled my nightgown up to my waist, and I flushed, remembering that I wasn’t wearing panties, giving him the same easy access he had the night before.

I couldn’t see him move, but I could feel him. When his tongue touched my clit, I nearly jumped out of the bed. Instead, I gripped the sides of my pillow with both hands and cried out, enjoying every moment of the bliss he offered.

His name was never far from my lips, often coupled with Please, or Yes! Many times I was

unable to form words or tried to say all things at once and only a garbled pleasured noise escaped me.

He seemed to enjoy those moments the most, grunting and moaning against my sensitive bud.

Then his fingers slipped inside of me, and I lost all ability to think for a while.

Much, much later, I couldn’t hide the bounce in my step as I walked down to the brunch event with the ladies. Grayson and I had become so lost to each other that we’d utterly missed all of the breakfast events. Neither of us felt particularly apologetic about that fact.

I was smiling ear to ear as I rounded the corner to the sitting room.

Before I went inside, before I could even be seen by those in the room, I heard their voices.

“I don’t know why he continues to keep Lillian around,” one of them said.

I braced myself, ready to finally stand up for myself and put these gossipers in their place. For too long, they’ve treated me like I didn’t exist, like I couldn’t hear the hurtful things they were saying, like Grayson would have to be out of his mind to want me, his fated mate, when he could have this other woman.

Yet just as I took one step, I heard the first speaker’s friend’s reply.

“He was formally betrothed to Odette before the accident. If she hadn’t been attacked, no one would have thought she died. They’d be married by now.”

“Lillian has only ever been a placeholder for Ødette. Maybe the prince feels guilty, being mated to her while he’s in love with another. I’m sure he wants to make their split as amicable as possible. He’s a good man.”

“Good man or no, he’s going to let Odette get away if he doesn’t start acting quicker. Lillian needs to go, the sooner the better. So that everything can get back to the way it was before all this.”

“I’m eager to forget the attacks too. Who know the rogues could be so bold?”

Their conversation detoured into speaking of the rogues, but I found my feet still wouldn’t

move.

Odette and Grayson had been betrothed?

“Are you spreading those old rumors again?” Odette asked, cutting into their conversation, laughing a little. “Did I hear you talking about Grayson and my engagement?”

“Don’t deny it, Odette,” one of the gossipers said. “It might have been hush hush back then, but everyone knew it was true.”

“Don’t dwell so much in the past, you two,” she said, but the smile never left her voice. It was

clear she was enjoying this particular ruinor.

“We aren’t,” one of the gossipers replied. “We are looking forward to a future where that past can be revisited.”

“Oh, you two…” Odette said teasingly, clearly not mad at alì.

I could hear Odette’s footsteps walking away. The two gossipers immediately began again.

“See? If it wasn’t true, she would be more forceful.”

“I wonder if they are already engaged again and just trying to find a harmless way to end the mating bite with Lillian.”

Instinctively, I brought my hand up to cover my mark, like I could protect it. Like Grayson couldn’t break our bond with a simple few words, rejecting me. The gossipers were right though. A rejection like that would physically and mentally hurt me.

Could there be any truth to this? Could Grayson and Odette be looking for ways to be together without causing me unneeded pain?

No. I shook the thought away, remembering this morning, and last night, and every night and morning since Grayson and I had rekindled things between us. Grayson wasn’t the type of man to please me while also planning on leaving me, was he? He seemed a better, more

honorable man than that.

I couldn’t believe this gossip. These lies.
