Sheila was instantly sick with worry. "How did she get hurt? Where is she injured?"
Edmond quickly reassured her, "It's not severe. Don't panic. I'll send someone to pick you up."
"No need, I'll grab a cab myself."
"Just wait," Edmond's voice was calm and commanding. "My people will be there fast."
Only after hanging up did Sheila realize that Edmond had insisted on sending a car because he was worried about her safety traveling alone.
Sheila sat in a daze for a moment, then dialed Cecil Rhodes.
They had originally planned to have dinner together to celebrate Wintertide Eve.
It looked like she was going to have to cancel.
Edmond's driver arrived swiftly. On the way to the hospital, Sheila's heart was in her throat.
She had no idea what condition Tilly was in. How could she have gotten hurt so suddenly?
Upon arriving at the hospital and spotting Tilly, Sheila hurried over.
Tilly had clearly been crying; her eyes were red, and her eyelashes were damp.
Seeing Sheila, her little mouth quivered, and she looked ready to cry again.
Afraid to pick her up, Sheila crouched down in front of Edmond and looked at the girl. "Tilly, I'm here."
"Pretty lady..."
Tilly's voice was full of grievance.
Anxious, Sheila looked up at Edmond. "Where is she hurt?"
"She took a fall. It's her leg," Edmond replied.
Sheila glanced down.
The little girl's pants were perfectly intact.
Edmond explained, "It's already bandaged. She needed two stitches."
Sheila's heart skipped a beat. "She needed stitches?"
"That's why she was crying so hard," Edmond said. "It's my fault for not keeping a closer eye on her."
Sheila carefully avoided her injured leg and pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek. "Does it still hurt, sweetheart?"
