Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 66

She thought he would just give her a straight answer.

After all, it seemed like a simple enough question.

Instead, Edmond stared at her with glacial eyes. "Does that have anything to do with you, Sheila?"

She bit her lip.

Fine, she would drop that one for now.

"Did Tilly's mother... pass away?" she asked.

Edmond had just picked up his coffee cup. At her words, he slammed it back onto the saucer, his glare turning hostile.

In that split second, Sheila figured out the answer.

Tilly's mother wasn't Jewel Baker.

But Edmond was currently with Jewel.

Did that mean... while he was dating Sheila and engaged to Jewel, he had also slept with Tilly's mother?

A bitter, self-deprecating smile touched her lips. "Do you even know the meaning of loyalty, Edmond?"

Edmond smiled back, but the coldness in it sent a shiver down her spine.

"You treat relationships like a game, and yet you have the nerve to lecture me about loyalty?"

Sheila immediately regretted coming.

What could she possibly say to this man?

Even if Tilly wasn't Jewel's daughter, what difference did it make?

Why did her heartbreak even matter?

Ignoring the icy detachment on his face, she asked softly, "Edmond, can I... ask you for a favor?"

"You're begging me?" His dark eyes masked any underlying emotion, but his tone was freezing. "Am I hearing things?"

Sheila felt a flush of humiliation.

She was the one who had said they should never meet again. She was the one who said they should be strangers.

Yet, after overhearing that one conversation in the stairwell, she was the one who came running to find him.
