Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 64

Sheila firmly confiscated Cecil's phone and forced him to close his eyes.

Before long, the man's breathing settled into a deep, steady rhythm.

She slipped out of the room, intending to find his doctor for an update.

As she stepped out of the doctor's office, her phone rang.

The corridor was noisy, so she ducked into the nearby stairwell.

It was Nadine, heavily implying that she should fly back for the holidays.

Sheila had originally considered visiting for a couple of days, but after Simon's warning about the blind dates, there was no way she was going back.

It took a lot of gentle coaxing before her aunt finally hung up.

Sheila stood there for a moment, staring blankly at her screen.

She heard footsteps above her; someone else had entered the stairwell.

She was about to leave when a voice echoed down.

"Dante, how is his condition, really?"

Sheila froze.

The voice... it was Laura.

And Dante... that had to be Dante Spencer.

Her feet felt glued to the floor.

What was wrong with Edmond?

The last time she saw him, he had seemed perfectly fine.

He had even left marks on her.

Dante's voice drifted down. "It's his old stomach issue. Laura, Mr. Halley wants you to take Tilly back home first."

Tilly was here?

Sheila hadn't seen the little girl in so long.

She couldn't lie to herself—she constantly worried about that child.

"I can take her back, but her social anxiety is getting worse," Laura sighed heavily. "Dante, she's so young. She desperately needs a mother. Could you... could you try talking to him?"

Needs a mother?
