Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 137

Clarence was a great storyteller, painting vivid pictures of her younger years.

Predictably, Edmond listened to every word with rapt attention.

Unable to take it anymore, Sheila groaned. "Clarence, please talk about business. Stop airing my embarrassing childhood laundry."

"You and Mr. Halley are both young," Lanny chuckled smoothly. "I figured our boring old-man business talk would put you to sleep."

"I'm pretty sure Mr. Halley finds my stories just as boring," she shot back.

"Not at all." Edmond tapped his long fingers against the table, a faint smirk on his lips. "It's highly entertaining."

But Sheila absolutely did not want Edmond knowing about her mortifying moments.

Like the time she accidentally put mustard in a jelly sandwich and cried because it was so spicy.

It was humiliating.

Around nine o'clock, Lanny nudged Clarence and suggested they step out for a smoke break.

The private room suddenly emptied, leaving just Edmond and Sheila.

Sheila had been full for an hour, and she hadn't touched the soup Edmond had poured for her.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Edmond calmly took her cold bowl of soup, tossed it out, and poured her a fresh, piping hot one.

He slid it back in front of her. "Too scared to drink it? Think I poisoned it?"

"Mr. Halley, a man of your stature shouldn't be serving me food," she muttered, unable to hold her tongue.

"It's not like you haven't let me do it before," he replied coolly, glancing away. "Drop the sarcastic act."

Sheila snapped her mouth shut, resolving to ignore him completely.

But Edmond couldn't stop looking at her. "Simon Sinclair... is your cousin?"

He had ordered a background check on Clarence and Lanny the night before. He had been genuinely surprised to uncover the familial connection between Sheila and Simon.

"Not by blood," she clarified tightly.
