Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 13

Whenever it came to anything involving Sheila, he simply couldn't remain rational. Because he couldn't wait to see her get deceived, manipulated, and chewed up.

That had to be it.

The woman who had callously played with his feelings deserved everything coming to her.

The next day, Sheila walked into the lab to find an atmosphere of absolute jubilation.

Simon Sinclair rushed over to tell her, "Professor Preston said the investment contracts are signed! And it's dual backing from two different firms! We don't have to worry about our funding being cut off anymore."

That fast? She had fully expected Marcus to create more hurdles.

She finally felt a massive weight lift off her shoulders.

York Preston called her into his office. "Mr. Wagner is hosting a dinner tonight to celebrate, and he specifically asked for you and Simon to be there."

Sheila thought about it for a second, then nodded. "Alright."

York added, "I know there have been a lot of social obligations lately, but this should be the last of it. Now that the ink is dry, we can focus entirely on the research."

That afternoon, Sheila took a trip back to her alma mater.

After visiting her former advisor, she stopped by the university library.

The moment she stepped out of the building, she saw Edmond.

He was standing beneath a sprawling ginkgo tree, his posture immaculate, radiating an air of untouchable elegance and devastating good looks.

Passing students couldn't help but let their eyes linger on him before quickly looking away, captivated by his appearance yet intimidated by his overwhelming aura.

The airport had been one thing. Then running into him at the restaurant. Now, seeing him here on campus?

Sheila quickly withdrew her gaze, tightened her grip on her books, and turned to walk the other way.
