Sheila's expression was anything but cheerful.
She murmured a vague response and followed Cecil back to the villa, retreating straight to her room.
The bedroom was large and beautiful, but as she lay on the bed, all she felt was a bitter ache in her chest.
Perhaps, from the very moment she found out Tilly was Edmond's daughter, she should have walked away.
Why did she ever think that breaking up with him meant their lives would be completely severed?
Edmond was a dangerous man, a ticking time bomb, and there was no telling when he might detonate.
As her thoughts spiraled, her phone buzzed.
She glanced at the screen. It was a message from Edmond.
It read: *Come out.*
Her heart skipped a beat.
He knew where she was?
Not wanting to reply, she shoved the phone face-down onto her pillow.
A moment later, it buzzed again.
She picked it up once more.
He had texted: *If you want to see Cecil and me tear each other apart, keep hiding.*
Sheila sat bolt upright.
She typed back frantically: *Don't do anything crazy!*
He replied with two words: *Come out.*
She hesitated. She really did need to make things clear with him regarding Tilly.
From now on... they truly couldn't see each other anymore.
She went downstairs but didn't see Cecil.
It was just as well; she had no idea how she was going to explain this to him anyway.
Stepping out of the villa, she spotted Edmond immediately.
He actually did know she was staying here.
She looked over and met his freezing gaze.
The man standing before her seemed like a completely different person from the one she had dealt with last night.
Looking at his cold, aristocratic demeanor now, it was impossible to imagine him doing those things or saying those horrific words.
