Sheila let out a soft sigh.
She hadn't exactly wanted Cecil and Tilly to cross paths either.
But given the situation at the time, if she hadn't let Cecil come upstairs, the man probably would have thrown a massive fit.
She replied, "It was just a colleague. Aren't you overreacting a bit, Mr. Halley?"
"A colleague?" Edmond demanded. "Just a colleague?"
Sheila certainly wasn't going to volunteer the fact that it was Cecil.
Are you kidding? If Edmond knew, he would probably strangle her.
"Just a colleague," Sheila affirmed. "Was there anything else, Mr. Halley?"
"Are you coming to see Tilly tomorrow?" Edmond asked. "She kept rambling about it before bed."
"I can't tomorrow," Sheila said. "If I do visit, it'll have to be in the evening."
"Fine, then I'll let her know. We'll wait for you... to have dinner together?"
"No thanks, I'll likely be working overtime. I won't be done until seven or eight."
After hanging up, Sheila let out a breath of relief.
It wasn't like Cecil and Tilly were ever going to see each other again anyway.
This time had just been an accident.
It wouldn't happen again.
Her only lingering worry now was what Edmond's third condition would turn out to be.
Fortunately, she had already established a connection with Tilly.
As for the rest... she'd just take it one step at a time.
If Tilly truly didn't have a mother, and Edmond wasn't her biological father either, then she was more than willing to shower Tilly with all the love she could give.
Her adoration for the child had absolutely nothing to do with Edmond.
It was an incredibly magical and inexplicable feeling.
Just like Cecil couldn't wrap his head around it—as he put it, why be so good to your ex-boyfriend's kid?
But Sheila loved Tilly, and that affection was completely separate from Edmond.
However, spending more time around Edmond lately, regardless of the reason, had forced Sheila to confront a very real truth.
Her emotions and state of mind were no longer influenced by him.
