She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 677

Lyra Fairchild walked slowly along the courtyard path toward the outdoor pool. From a distance, she could see the water sparkling. Rowan Jameson was standing in the shallow end, holding Pip against his chest. Before she could even get close, she bumped into Mrs. Whittaker, who was looking a bit disheveled.

"What happened?"

Mrs. Whittaker wiped her face, offering a helpless, bitter smile. "Ma'am, those two alpacas have a terrible temper. The only ones they behave for are Mr. Jameson, little Pip, and you. Whenever us staff try to feed them, they spit everywhere. I just tried to give them some hay and got a face full of it."

Lyra couldn't help but smile, her voice gentle as she advised, "Go inside and change. From now on, you don't need to hand-feed them. Just put the hay in their trough and step back."

"Noted, definitely noted. I won't be getting close next time," Mrs. Whittaker agreed quickly, laughing as she hurried toward the staff quarters.

Lyra walked up to the edge of the pool. In the water, Pip was clinging to Rowan's chest, refusing to let go. His chubby little hands gripped his father's firm biceps tightly, his tiny fingers clutching onto his skin as he held on with sheer terror, too scared to swim on his own.

Lyra laughed from the edge of the pool. "He's never going to learn at this rate, is he?"

Rowan seemed to remember something, a teasing glint in his eyes. "He takes after his mother."

Since there was a staff member standing nearby holding a towel, Lyra felt completely put on the spot. A hot flush crept up her cheeks. She pressed her lips together and retorted, "Who says I'm like Pip?"

She knew perfectly well that when she was younger, she hadn't actually been afraid of the water. She had just feigned fear as an excuse to cling to Rowan and get close to him. Pip, on the other hand, was genuinely terrified...

Rowan watched his wife's flustered reaction. A wave of affection washed over him, and a lazy smile touched his lips. "If you say so."

He raised a hand to signal the waiting staff member, who hurried over holding a fluffy, pure white bath towel.

"Take Pip inside for a bath."

"I'm his godmother, it's my job to spoil him," Sabrina said, her eyes crinkling with a carefree smile. "If I don't put in the effort, how could I justify coming over all the time to see this adorable little guy?"

"You can come over whenever you want. You don't have to spend a fortune."

Lyra and Sabrina sat on the living room sofa, chatting leisurely.

A few moments later, a staff member stepped forward quietly. "Ma'am, the Sales Associates from the boutique are here with the new collection. All the ready-to-wear and accessories for this season have arrived."

"Sabrina, come take a look with me," Lyra said, having them shown in.

Several impeccably dressed Sales Associates filed into the living room, carefully carrying garment bags and exquisite gift boxes bearing the brand's logo, lining them up neatly on the side. The lead associate stepped forward with a polished, professional smile. "Mrs. Jameson, these are the limited-edition haute couture pieces, cashmere sets, and handcrafted dresses for the autumn and winter collection, along with the newest handbags and silk scarves. We reserved them specifically for you and prioritized your delivery for the global limited editions. Please take your time browsing. We can always take back anything that doesn't suit you."
