"Answer her truthfully," Rowan demanded, his voice a low, dangerous rumble.
Waylon froze for a few seconds before throwing his head back and erupting into manic laughter. "What's wrong? Are you scared? Afraid that the truth will ruin your perfect little happily ever after? Let me spell it out for you..."
Waylon was fully prepared to twist the knife, ready to deliver maximum emotional damage.
Rowan cut him off, his gaze turning somber and icy. "You had better stick to the facts."
"Don't think I'm blind to what happened in our past life. On that yacht, I triggered the explosion. I took you down with me. And before that, I gave you millions of dollars. You took me to the apartment complex and claimed Lyra had given all that money to Kayla."
Waylon's hands clenched tightly into fists. He had no idea Rowan possessed those memories. Lyra had already died by the time the yacht exploded; she couldn't possibly have known about Rowan's suicide mission or the massive payout.
"You were the one who gave him those millions?" Lyra gasped, shock rippling through her.
She glared fiercely at the man behind the glass. "Waylon! What else do you have to say for yourself?!"
Waylon's face drained of color, absolute shock written across his features. He stared at Rowan, bewildered. "You actually remember! How could you know that? You were reborn too..."
"I know everything," Rowan stated coldly. "I know I never threw Lyra to Lucas. But my wife needs to hear the confession come directly from your mouth."
After a tense standoff, Waylon's shoulders slumped in total defeat. "I made it all up," he confessed in a hoarse whisper. "I couldn't stand the fact that Lyra loved you. I was consumed by jealousy and just wanted to tear you two apart. So I lied. I told her you gave her to Lucas."
Stepping out of the prison, the dark cloud that had hovered over Lyra for so long finally began to dissipate. She let Rowan guide her by the hand, though her complexion remained noticeably pale.
Rowan kept a firm, protective grip on her fingers. Noticing her unsteady steps and the sheer exhaustion rolling off her, he slowed his pace. "Are you exhausted?"
He fully understood the crushing helplessness and despair she had suffered in her previous life. She had been entirely alone, with no one to save her, carrying nothing but regrets until her last breath.
When they reached their sleek black car, Rowan gently released her legs, setting her down on the pavement. He instantly pulled her flush against him, wrapping her in a fierce, iron-clad embrace.
"It's all my fault. In the past, I was entirely too blind and foolish to see through the manipulation. I let you die alone, burdened with sorrow. But this life is completely different. I will guard you with my last breath and never leave your side."
Lyra sniffled, pulling back slightly. "Don't think you're completely off the hook!"
"That girl who collapsed in front of you begging for mercy at Blackwood Manor the other day—will she end up just like me? I want you to promise me... no more ruthless, cutthroat business deals. No more blood money."
"Alright. I promise you," Rowan murmured before capturing her lips in a deep, desperate kiss. As long as she could finally forgive him, he was willing to surrender absolutely everything.

The readers' comments on the novel: She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry
What Rowan did in his past life was horrific, and I’m not excusing it, but he truly did everything he could in his second life to repent and atone for what he did to Lyra. At some point, there has to be room for forgiveness and grace. If someone spends their entire life trying to make amends and become a better person, then what does redemption mean if we never allow them a chance to be forgiven? Even someone who has done terrible things deserves the possibility of redemption, and honestly, I want Rowan to be happy too!...
