She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 641

Taking advantage of the moment Caspian's attention darted toward the encroaching security guards, Andrea slipped out of the room. She sprinted up to the third floor, punched the code into the keypad, and pushed open the heavy doors of The West Study.

Her eyes immediately landed on a double-barreled shotgun.

She grimaced. A shotgun had too wide of a spread. With Caspian standing flush against Lyra, the risk of collateral damage was far too high.

Searching frantically, she spotted exactly what she needed—the handgun, loaded with precision rounds, tucked neatly beside it.

Moments later, the screech of tires echoed from the driveway. Rowan had arrived.

"Mr. Jameson!" Andrea leaned out the third-floor window and tossed the handgun down to the lawn below.

Rowan caught it mid-air with one hand. He snapped his gaze up to the floor-to-ceiling windows of the living room. Through the glass, he had a clear view of Caspian pressing the scalpel to Lyra's throat, her pregnant silhouette terrifyingly vulnerable.

Caspian noticed the headlights. His eyes hardened. "He's finally here."

Rowan gripped the gun tightly and strode through the front doors. His voice was absolute ice. "Drop the knife, Caspian. If you have a problem, take it up with me."

Caspian's grip tightened, the blade pressing a millimeter closer to Lyra's skin. "Tell me," he demanded, his voice trembling. "How did you treat Jasmine all these years? You manipulated me into hurting her, over and over again, while you used her as a shield for your own marriage. You left her broken!"

Rowan watched the metal threatening to break the delicate skin of Lyra's neck. A suffocating wave of panic gripped his chest. "You're the one who hurt Jasmine, not me. We parted ways a long time ago."

Caspian's face grew dangerously pale. "Parted ways? You make it sound so easy! If it weren't for your subtle hints and careful manipulation, I never would have lost control. I never would have hurt her! You used me like a weapon to clear your path!"

"Jasmine is scarred for life because of you!" Caspian yelled. "Today, I'm taking Lyra with me. Let's see how you like the torment of losing the people you love!"

She clutched her agonizing stomach, her face devoid of color. She turned her pleading eyes to the man holding her captive. "It hurts so much. Caspian, please... take me to the hospital."

Caspian was too distracted by the sight of Rowan's executioner stance to process her words immediately.

It took Lyra repeating herself three times before the reality of her pain pierced through his breakdown. A flicker of hesitation crossed his face. Panicked by the escalating chaos, he dragged Lyra out the back exit, pulling her toward a black sedan idling in the driveway.

Wesley Wade was sitting behind the wheel. He had arrived just seconds after Rowan and was completely blindsided when Caspian shoved Lyra into the backseat and jumped in after her.

The doors slammed shut. The sedan surged forward, tearing out of the estate gates.

Rowan stood frozen, his knuckles white around the grip of the gun. The color completely drained from his face before he sprinted toward an empty SUV and threw himself into the driver's seat.
