She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 640

Caspian stared at Lyra, his silence heavy and suffocating.

Lyra pressed her lips together and spoke softly. "Victoria, Andrea, could you give us a moment? I trust Caspian won't do anything reckless."

Andrea had no intention of leaving the room.

It took Victoria grabbing her arm to physically pull her out.

The moment the door clicked shut, Andrea pulled out her phone and dialed Mr. Jameson's number.

It went straight to voicemail.

Caspian sat rigidly in his chair. His gaze bore into Lyra, laced with deep suspicion. "Lyra, did you and Rowan play Jasmine for a fool this entire time?"

Lyra clenched her fists, trying to keep her voice steady. "I don't know what lies Jasmine fed you, but she was the one who came back and tried to push me down the stairs while I was pregnant. She ended up falling instead. How is that anyone's fault but her own?"

Caspian shook his head, his voice trembling with righteous anger. "She's been your human shield for years! I always thought she was the one Rowan truly loved. I let him manipulate me into running her off the road multiple times!"

"You and Rowan treated her like a disposable pawn," he spat. "She's the one who's been bleeding, the one forced to endure all the pain from the very beginning."

Lyra realized with a sinking heart just how deeply Jasmine had woven herself into Caspian's sympathies.

"Caspian, I understand why you care for her. You saw her struggling, fighting to survive, and you admired her resilience. But Jasmine... she isn't the saint you think she is. She's far from innocent."

"She was right there beside me overseas!" Caspian shot back. "Wiping tables, taking out the trash, scrubbing glasses!"

"It sounds like you had a hard time out there," Lyra murmured. She had never known Victoria had cut off Caspian's allowance. If she had, she would have helped him financially without a second thought.

Lyra kept her tone gentle. "But Caspian, the injuries Jasmine suffered... you were the one behind the wheel. Not me. Not Rowan."

"Rowan manipulated me!" Caspian roared.

His sudden outburst made his pale, handsome face contort with fury. "He used me to do his dirty work! All those times I hit her... were you two hiding in the shadows, laughing at me?"

Lyra went completely rigid. Her hands moved to fiercely protect her swollen belly as a suffocating wave of fear washed over her. The sudden spike of adrenaline triggered a heavy, tightening ache in her lower abdomen.

Andrea's phone buzzed in her pocket. She didn't dare break eye contact to answer it.

The commotion had drawn the estate's security. Guards flooded into the room, forming a tight perimeter. Blake and Will were frantic, but seeing Caspian's ragged breathing and wild, unfocused eyes, they held their ground. The blade was inches from Lyra's carotid artery. One wrong move would be fatal.

Andrea narrowed her eyes, noticing the color draining from Lyra's face. The pregnant woman covertly braced one hand against the armrest of the sofa to keep herself upright.

Victoria noticed it too. "Caspian, Lyra is pregnant! Don't do anything reckless! Please!"

The phone in Andrea's pocket vibrated again. She cast a subtle glance downward. A notification had popped up on the screen—a text from Rowan containing an eight-digit sequence.

Her pulse quickened. She knew exactly what it was.

There was only one room in the entirety of Blackwood Manor that required this specific passcode: The West Study. While The East Study was open for guests, The West Study was Rowan's private sanctuary, strictly off-limits to everyone.
