She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 631

Rowan's deep, teasing voice came through the receiver. "I knew you wouldn't call me unless you needed something. For a second, I actually thought you missed me. I'm aware of the gossip. I'll take care of it."

Hearing his promise instantly eased Lyra's nerves. She hung up the phone and looked at Delilah. "He said he knows about it and will get it sorted out."

Delilah nodded, a look of relief washing over her face. "It's clear that he truly cares about you."

Lyra hesitated for a moment before speaking up. "Mom, I think I'm going to move back to Blackwood Manor."

Blackwood Manor was sprawling and spacious. While the Fairchild residence was a lovely house, the front and back yards were quite cramped. If she wanted to take a walk, she had to go out onto the public streets, which was far too inconvenient.

Beyond that, Lyra had woken up from several naps to hear Kayla quietly scolding the twins, begging them to keep their voices down so they wouldn't disturb her rest. That kind of tip-toeing made Lyra feel terribly guilty, as if she were a burden on the two little ones.

Delilah naturally hated to see her go. "It's so much easier for you to stay here with us. The family can keep an eye on you at all times. Blackwood Manor is top-tier, but at the end of the day, it's just you and Rowan. He's always out networking and working late. If you're alone in that massive house all day, I'll be worried sick. If you ever feel wronged, you won't even have anyone there to stand up for you."

"It's fine, Mom. I've stayed here long enough this time. I'll come back and visit soon..." Lyra replied.

She also had a private matter to settle back at Blackwood Manor.

By the time Lyra finished her walk and returned to the Fairchild house, Liam had specially brought her a box of warm apple turnovers and a lightly sweetened milk shake.

Lyra opened the box and took a small bite of the turnover. The buttery pastry was rich and flaky, while the filling was the perfect blend of tart and sweet. She took a sip of the warm, silky milk shake, the subtle hint of tea perfectly cutting through the sweetness of the dessert.

The fresh, clean scent of her body wash filled his senses. He lowered his head to kiss the top of her hair, his hand gently rubbing her back.

"Finally willing to come home."

His voice was deep and warm. Resting his chin on her shoulder, he held her as if he never wanted to let go.

Lyra felt the tight grip of his embrace and instinctively pressed a hand against his chest to put a little distance between them. "Is the situation resolved?"

"Yeah. Haven't you checked your phone?"
