The next day, Delilah visited her daughter, bringing her grandchildren along.
After Lyra played with the twins for a while, Delilah had the nanny take them downstairs. "Get some rest, don't overexert yourself. The Jamesons place so much importance on this baby, we can't let the twins tire you out..."
"It's fine. I know my own limits."
Delilah peeled an apple for her daughter and asked, "Did he ask you to sign a prenup?"
Lyra froze for a second. "No."
Delilah nodded in satisfaction. "Then he treats you quite well. Some men make a fortune but still pinch every penny..."
"And that massive betrothal gift—he offered billions of dollars, not to mention the heirloom antique jewelry. Your brother and his wife were stunned. Some massive corporations don't even have that much in total assets. Even though we didn't accept the money, it at least showed his sincerity. Those sets of heirloom antique jewelry are absolutely stunning. I kept two sets at home, but I brought the rest back for you."
"You don't mind that I kept those two sets, do you?"
Lyra said softly, "Not at all."
"His only flaw is how loudly he's advertising your pregnancy," Delilah continued. "I heard Jayden Ward and Zane Sutton were there at the time; he probably said it just to rub it in their faces. Men really can be so petty..."
Lyra rested a hand on her stomach. "I don't care about him, and I don't care about the others. Right now, I just want this baby to be born safe and healthy at full term."
The twins obediently raised their chubby little hands to wave goodbye. Delilah took their hands, reminded Lyra to rest well, and then walked out of the courtyard to their waiting car.
Around dinnertime, Rowan returned to Blackwood Manor after finishing up his work.
Lyra had already turned on the TV. Sitting across from each other in pure silence was too awkward; they needed some background noise to ease the tension. Rowan was incredibly meticulous about her diet, strictly following the nutritionist's plan with a rotating array of proteins, vegetables, and fresh fruits. He urged her to take at least a few bites of everything to ensure complete nutritional balance.
Halfway through dinner, Rowan's phone rang. He put it on speaker, and a subordinate's voice immediately began reporting on the construction progress. Lyra quietly picked up the remote, lowering the TV volume bit by bit until it was muted, and continued eating.
Once Rowan ended the call, Lyra spoke up just to fill the silence. "My mom came by today. She said the twins absolutely love Mrs. Whittaker's cooking."

The readers' comments on the novel: She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry
What Rowan did in his past life was horrific, and I’m not excusing it, but he truly did everything he could in his second life to repent and atone for what he did to Lyra. At some point, there has to be room for forgiveness and grace. If someone spends their entire life trying to make amends and become a better person, then what does redemption mean if we never allow them a chance to be forgiven? Even someone who has done terrible things deserves the possibility of redemption, and honestly, I want Rowan to be happy too!...
