Kayla let out a soft gasp, and the two of them sprang apart.

"I am so sorry," Kayla stammered, her face burning instantly as she took in the scene.

"It's fine, Kayla," Lyra said, trying to stand up, but Rowan pulled her right back down.

Trapped on his lap, it only took a second for Lyra to realize exactly why he wasn't letting her up. Her breath hitched in her throat.
