Serendipity's Secret (Melanie) novel Chapter 86

Chapter 86

Recalling her conversation with Julia, Melanie couldn’t help but laugh

She thought that Edward was indeed a funny guy. If he wanted her to pick him up, he could have just said so instead of beating around the bush and trying to be clever

You deserved that. If you wanted me to pick you up, you could have just told me directly. Why would you tell Julia about it?”

Edward cast a resentful glance at Melanie but didn’t say anything in response

Melanie had a feeling that Edward seemed off that day. Who knew that a man could

could be so different when drunk

Edward was usually polite and articulate. Also, he looked sharp and capable

The intoxicated Edward, however, was not only a bit slow to respond and more brazen, but he was also a little petulant

He was indeed acting a bit petulant. Although Melanie thought that word was inappropriate to describe him, she couldn’t think of a more fitting description. Could this be the socalled contrast effect

Alright. Drink your tea and get some sleep. If you’re free tomorrow, come with

Melanie spoke impatiently, urging him to drink the tea quickly as it was getting cold

me to get my driver’s license,Once Edward drank the tea, he lay on his back, looking somewhat stiff Finding his sleeping position funny after glancing at himp, Melanie chuckled discretely

When she suddenly recalled their intimate moment earlier, her face turned red

stay angry. However

She believed it was best to find a handsome husband; that way, even one had an ugly husband, one could even be frightened by him at night when the lights were off

an argument, just seeing his face would make it hard to stay a From this angle, Melanie could see Edward’s straight nose and defined jawline. She couldn’t help but gulp in the darkness. Fortunately for her, Edward was already asleep and did not notice her staring. Otherwise, it would have been really awkward. Edward was already gone the next day by the time she woke up. Even though he had a lot to drink last night, he could still get up he truly was an extraordinary guy

When she was done washing up and got to the living room

I up early. Melanie felt tha

she found Edward sitting on the couch reading a newspaper, looking like his usual self again

He was dressed casually. His unkempt hair hung loosely on his forehead, making him look significantly younger and cuter

Melanie subconsciously glanced at him again as she recalled his actions from last night

As if Edward had sensed her, he looked up to see her. Stunned momentarily, he looked away, probably recalling what happened last night

In fact, he recalled what he had done as soon as he woke up this morning. Although he was quite drunk the night before, he could still vaguely remember what he had done

The memory of him doing something like that to a woman after getting Intoxicated made him feel embarrassed

He was never like this. Yet, for some reason, when he saw Melanie’s face last night, he was reminded of that night at the inn, which caused him almost to lose control

He was relieved that Melanie rejected his advances right after. It was hard to say what might have happened if she hadn’t

Even though Melanie was now his nominal wife, their marriage was still somewhat contractual, and their feelings hadn’t developed to that stage yet. For blin to do something like that was disrespectful to her

Seeing that Melanie was sleeping soundly, he quietly got up, thinking he should find an opportunity to apologize to her. Regardless, he still thought it would be embarassing to bring it up

After breakfast, everyone went off to do their

Letting out a short, Melanie glanced at him. “You didn’t seem that drunk. If you were, how could you still remember what you did?Edward felt ashamed, not expecting her to be so unsympathetic

There won’t be a next time. Yesterday was a special situation. Aside from work socializing, I don’t usually drink. So you don’t have to worry about that

The truth was that Melanie didn’t actually inind what happened. After all, kissing a handsome guy was hardly a bad thing. But as a woman, she couldn’t

Say that out lourt
