Anna didn’t expect that Leah would receive something as well. She couldn’t help but think even more highly of Melanie after this. If nothing else, – Melanie certainly had a good eye for things. 

As a businesswoman herself, Anna naturally liked those who were adaptable, and her impression of Melanie improved even more. 

After Annabett, Julia pulled Melanie aside to share some gossip. 

“I heard from my brother that they’re having a get–together tonight. They’re going to drink, and it sounds like they want to get Edward drunk. Why don’t you go pick him up earlier?” 

Melanie was shocked by what Julin said. “Why do they want to get him drunk?” 

Julia clicked her tongue. “You probably don’t know this, but Edward has a high alcohol tolerance since he’s trained. 

“My brother and his friends are jealous because he always outdrinks them. So this time, they invited a bunch of their friends to gang up on him. It’s pretty shameless since they’re more or less tag–teaning to get him to drink. ” 

Julia wore a look of contempt as she criticized Timothy without reservation. 

When Melanie was with Edward earlier, he had mentioned that he wouldn’t need to go to work the following day. So, it made sense that Timothy and the others would want to get him drunk that night

After thinking about it, Julia agreed with Melanie and said nothing more about it. 

Melanie returned home after closing the boutique and, as expected, didn’t see Edward. She figured that he was probably out with Timothy and the others. 

The guilty Felicia came home early after work and had already prepared dinner. 

Unbothered, Melanie sat down and began eating. Once she was done, she helped Nellie with her homework. 

“Oh, by the way, Melanie, Edward called just now and said something came up, so he’ll be back late. He told you to go to bed early.” 

Sapphire opened the door to inform Melanie, who nodded in acknowledgment. 

Not long after Nellie finished her homework, the young girl felt drowsy. So, she ran next door to sleep with Sapphire. 

Melanie freshened up before laying in bed to read an Encarian book. Eventually, she drifted off to sleep. 

While half–asleep, she suddenly felt the bed sink beside her. She opened her eyes to find that Edward was back. 

His cheeks were slightly flushed. He had a faint smell of alcohol on him, and his shirt collar was slightly open, revealing his firm chest beneath. 

Edward indeed got drunk but didn’t embarrass himself in front of his friends. He was still able to walk out with his head held high. 

However, once home, he let his guard down. 

When he saw Melanie looking over, he couldn’t react momentarily. 

His intense stare and disheveled hair, with a few locks resting on his forehead, gave him an almost devastatingly sexy appearance, Melanie suddenly became breathless. 

A second later, Edward was leaning closer to her, moving in to kiss her. 

Melanie’s eyes widened instantly. As she felt his intense approach, her heart skipped a beat,
