After washing their hands, Edward and Melanie joined the family at the dinner table, where all eyes turned to the latter. Felicia had not bothered visiting Melanie’s boutique, assuming it would not amount to much on opening day. 

She figured Melanie would already be considered lucky if she sold one item. After all, nobody would choose a new shop over the established department stores and 

tailors in the area. 

In an attempt to embarrass Melanie, Felicia deliberately brought up the topic during dinner. “So, Melanie, how was your opening day? Did you get any customers?” Everyone’s attention shifted to Melanie at Felicia’s question. Meanwhile, Sophie knew exactly how well the store had done. Her friends bought four dresses for 250 dollars each, with a 20% discount, bringing in 800 dollars just from them. This was precisely why she had kept quiet about the whole thing 

Yarger and Luca shared Felicia’s skepticism. They could not imagine how a woman from a small town who could barely read could successfully run a business. Despite their doubts, they were still gentlemen, so they kept their thoughts to themselves. However, since Felicia had asked, they were curious, too. 

Melanie calmly sipped her chicken soup without rushing to answer. Only after setting down her spoon did she respond. “It went well. We had quite a few customers today. After expenses, we made about 1500 dollars in profit.” 

Her statement sturned everyone, including Edward. Although Melanie had mentioned that the business was good earlier, Edward had not realized it was to this extent. Making 1500 dollars in one day was remarkable. It was enough to cover the initial investment within a week and still have a reserve of money. 

Felicia’s mocking expression froze on her face. She forced a laugh, clearly unconvinced. “That’s impossible. 1500 dollars in net profit? Melanie, stop joking around.

sapphire and the others reacted similarly, unable to believe that she could have made so much so fast. After all, that was already more than most people’s monthly income. 

“Why would I joke about this? I may be new to the city, but I can certainly do basic math,” Melanie replied coldly, giving Felicia a subtle gla 

glance. 

At that moment, her confidence and elegance surpassed even Sophie’s. She didn’t look at all like a woman from a small town. Felicia’s grip tightened on her cutleries as she struggled to accept the reality of the situation. 

“I get it now. You must have had plenty of family members coming to support you. That would explain the 1500 dollars,” Felicia commented. Luca glanced at Sapphire, wondering if she had helped promote the store. Sapphire looked equally confused. Even though she had made p enough to generate such a profit, 

purchases, they were not 

“Melanie explained simply. 

Sapphire bought two pieces and Insisted on paying despite my protests. The rest came from other customers,” Felicia convinced herself that it was just opening day luck, but Sophie knew better. Fearing Felicia might say something unfortunate, Sophie licked the former under the table. Her comments 

ts did not damage Melanie’s reputation but enhanced it. 

Felicia took the hint and fell silent. As the head of the household, Luca attempted to smooth things over 

“Who knew Melanie would be such a natural at business? Let’s all toast to her continued success!” 

Yaeger and the others followed suit, offering their half–hearted congratulations. Mellanie did not mind their take sincerity. She knew the truth would speak for itself, and they would eventually recognize her capabilities. 

After dinner, Sophie pulled Felicia aside to her bedroom
