Serendipity's Secret (Melanie) novel Chapter 39

Chapter 39

That’s true. Edward is a great guy. I guess it’s just fate,Melanie said, sounding polite. Inwardly, however, she didn’t quite share the same sentiment as Julia

While Edward was impressive, Melanie knew her worth as well. All she needed was the opportunity to showcase herself

The first step to proving everyone wrong was to run this boutique

The two women laughed and joked as they traveled. Julia had initially felt that there would be some distance between them due to Melanie’s delicate appearance and feared that it would be hard to connect, but to her surprise, Melanie was straightforward and easy to get along with

Once they arrived in the neighboring city, they headed straight for the wholesale market Melanie had mentioned

Upon entering, she immediately started browsing. The market was vast, filled with a variety of goods

After some time, the settled on a shop owned by a man who spoke with a Hindale accent and exuded a quickwitted charm

The clothing there was fashionable and wellcut, likely sourced from Hindale

After Melanie selected several items, the man noticed her choices and seemed pleased

However, when it cam

came to check out, she couldn’t help but furrow her brow. It was summer, and she was picking summer styles that should have been inexpensive. In other stores, a shortsleeve shirt might cost only 200 or 300 dollars wholesale, but the shop was charging her over 500 dollars

The shop owner seemed to take advantage of her inexperience, assuming that she and Julia were just two naive girls

Immediately after the shop owner calculated the total, Melante wordlessly tumed on her heel to leave

Jack Fisher, the shop owner, was taken aback and quickly called out to her

Hey, young lady! After all this time, you can’t just walk away like that! You can’t be doing to people, wasting their time.”

Melanie shot him a cold glance and said, Listen. We’re all Dasocians. You can’t rip off your own people like this. With prices being this high, of course I’m walking

wwww

Jack realized that Melanie wasn’t as naive as he had thought. He quickly adjusted the price. Melanie then haggled it down significantly, and they finally reached a deal

I’ll be honest with you, young lady. If it weren’t for your good looks, I wouldn’t sell to you at all,Jack said, grinning

Melanie scoffed internally. His business wasn’t exactly booming. In fact, the trendy styles he offered could be a doubleedged sword

Many people hesitated to stock such bold Items for fear they wouldn’t sell. But Melanie was willing to take that risk

The total cost of the clothes came to over 1500 dollars, enough to fill two large bags. Julia grabbed one bag in each hand, ready to head our

Seeing this, Melanie insisted, jalla, let me help with one of those bags.”

No way! You’re pregnant, you shouldn’t be lifting heavy things,Julia replied firmly

Upon hearing about Melanie’s pregnancy, Jack quickly called a nearby assistant to help carry the bags outside

Fortunately, Julia drove so they could easily load the bags into the trunk. Without a car, they would have had to go to the train station and then endure hours on a crowded train to get back

Noticing it was getting late, Melanie decided to treat Julia to a nice meal

We don’t need to rush back I’d love to buy you dinner. I really appreciate you coming with me. It would be exhausting if I had to take the train alone with these

Feeling a bit bashful, Julia agreed. They went to dine at a local restaurant. Melanie ordered several dishes, thinking it would be enough for two

When the food arrived, she quickly realized that Julia had quite the appetite. The latter could eat just as much as

Julia felt even more embarrassed

s any man

*Melanie, you must have never encountered a big eater liker

The.”

Melanie chuckled. Eating well is a blessing! I’d love to eat more, and you don’t seem to have any issues with your figure. I enjoy dining with someone who has a good appetite!”

Melanie’s charming words made Julia beam with happiness

As they chatted and enjoyed their meal, Melanie felt she had made her first good friend in the city

Near the end of their meal, Melanie took advantage of a trip to the restroom to settle the bull

When the emerged, she nearly collided with a man wallding in. He quickly apologized, but upon glancing up and seeing Melanie’s face, he passed, momentarily
