Nora had never seen Henry Fairchild in person, but his face had graced the covers of financial magazines far too many times to count.
She immediately averted her gaze, having no desire to stir up any trouble.
But exactly as she turned away, Liana's gaze swept over, and the two women locked eyes in midair.
The smile on Liana's face froze visibly. Raw, undisguised disgust and icy malice instantly surged in her eyes.
Nora's expression didn't change as she broke eye contact and continued walking toward the parking lot.
"What's wrong?"
Noticing Liana's sudden shift in mood, Henry instinctively followed her line of sight, but he only caught a glimpse of a slender, graceful back.
"What are you looking at?"
Liana gritted her teeth. "That woman is Hudson's wife..."
"Hudson Lancaster?"
Henry furrowed his brow slightly. Among the heirs of the younger generation, only Hudson Lancaster and Vincent Vaughn truly stood head and shoulders above the rest.
However, he had heard that Hudson was terminally ill and wouldn't live much longer.
That was why, when Vincent Vaughn extended an olive branch for the microchip development project, Henry had accepted it without hesitation.
In his eyes, even though Hudson's capabilities surpassed Vincent's, for a long-term partnership, Vincent was naturally the safer bet.
"Last time, she ganged up with Sienna to humiliate me! She even had her bodyguard hit me... Dad, you have to help me get back at her!" Liana fumed.
Henry's frown deepened. His gaze lingered on the spot where Nora had disappeared for a second before he pulled it back, his tone indifferent. "Let it go. The Lancaster family is too powerful right now. We need to swallow our pride when necessary."
"Dad! She slapped me! No one in my entire life has ever dared to hit me in the face!" Liana's eyes turned red. "Who does she think she is? She's just riding on Hudson's coattails! Without him, she's nothing!"
As long as she did it cleanly, no one would ever know she was behind it.
With that thought, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
"Hello? I need you to look into something for me. Find out which hotel Nora Reed is staying at in Chicago, what her room number is, and her daily itinerary. The more detailed, the better."
A voice on the other end acknowledged the order.
Liana hung up the phone, slipped it back into her purse, and leisurely turned to walk back into the Vaughn Corporation building.
Just as she reached the entrance, she happened to run into Vincent Vaughn walking out through the revolving doors.
The man was wearing a long, dark gray trench coat, flanked by seven or eight bodyguards in black suits. His entourage was as absurdly massive as ever. Catching sight of Liana, he paused slightly and lowered his sunglasses, revealing a pair of sharp, predatory eyes.
"Ms. Fairchild? It's so late, why haven't you left yet?"
