Harrison's legs gave out, and he slumped against the nearest desk.
He wasn't deaf.
He just couldn't believe it.
He had assumed human resources handled his termination. He had convinced himself that Nora was just a pretty face who slept with some executive to steal his job.
Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine that Hudson Lancaster himself had signed the order!
Still, a desperate sliver of hope clung to his chest.
He wanted his job back at Star Entertainment.
He had found another music director position at a smaller agency...
But compared to Star Entertainment, it was absolute garbage.
"Mr. Lancaster, there must be a misunderstanding! I..."
Hudson didn't entertain his excuses. "I heard someone was making baseless accusations, even launching a public smear campaign. Since we've reached this point, let's have a little chat about you slandering my wife."
His wife?!
The word hit the room like a bomb.
The office went pin-drop silent.
Absolute disbelief painted every face. No one could trust their own ears.
Nora's husband was Hudson Lancaster?
That made her the Lady of Star Entertainment!
"What? Lost your voice?"
Seeing both of them paralyzed, Hudson tilted his head, his tone dropping to a dangerous chill. "You don't really have a choice."
Panic finally set in for Harrison. "Mr. Lancaster... I... I had no idea she was your wife..."
He stammered, his face ashen. "It was my wife's misunderstanding... We deeply apologize... This is all our fault..."
Before he could grovel further, Seraphina shook her head frantically. She pointed at Arthur. "That's a lie! The chauffeur is her husband!"
"You hit me?! You actually hit me?" Seraphina lunged at him like a wild animal, her nails clawing at his face.
"You were the one who pushed me to launch that smear campaign! Now that it's backfiring, you're trying to throw me under the bus?!"
"Bullshit!" Harrison's face flushed with fury. "You were the one insanely jealous of Nora! You insisted on destroying her, and I couldn't stop you!"
"Like hell! You were bitter about getting fired! You just wanted your job back! You told me to ruin her reputation..."
"Shut up!"
"No, you shut up!"
The couple began screaming at each other, the argument spiraling into a vicious blame game.
Leaning casually against a desk, Hudson watched the chaotic spectacle, a cold, mocking smirk playing on his lips.
It was the perfect picture of two rats tearing each other apart on a sinking ship.
A truly pathetic display.
