Nora's mind raced, but she kept her face completely neutral and pointed in a direction.
"That way. Go to the end and take a left."
The man gave a curt nod and slipped his sunglasses back on. "Thank you."
He turned and headed in the direction she indicated, his dozen bodyguards immediately falling into step behind him. The entire entourage marched off like an imposing army.
Only then did Sienna recover from the shock. She lowered her voice. "Nora, the direction you pointed... that's the wrong way, right?"
"Yeah."
"..."
Nora grabbed her arm and dragged her inside. "Hurry, hurry! Once he figures it out, we're in trouble."
The two pushed through the door, hurrying past the screen wall and down the corridors, practically jogging all the way.
It wasn't until they were safely inside The Orchid Suite that Nora finally let out a long breath.
Inside the room, Hudson, Finnian, and Jude were already seated around the table, having just finished their first round of tea.
Seeing the two women enter, both Hudson and Finnian pulled out chairs for them.
"What's wrong with your eyes? Have you been crying?" Finnian frowned slightly the moment Sienna sat down, then shifted his cool gaze to Nora. "Who bullied you?"
Nora was speechless.
"No one..." Sienna rubbed her eyes. "I just got some dust in them outside..."
While Nora secretly cursed the two-faced jerk for playing the caring boyfriend, Hudson reached over and gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Why were you running? Run into some trouble?"
Nora took a huge gulp of the water he handed her before quickly explaining. "I just saw this really weird guy outside. His car was completely ridiculous, covered in gold foil, and the license plate was from Chicago—IL-88888..."
The moment she said those words, a sudden silence fell over the room.
Finnian's hand stalled as he lifted his teacup, a barely noticeable frown creasing his forehead.
Jude's expression also shifted subtly.
Nora pressed her lips together, staring at the man and his absurdly large entourage, a sense of dread prickling her scalp.
"Vincent..."
Just then, Finnian spoke up, his voice cool and indifferent as his gaze swept over the row of muscle. "Bringing this many people, showing up uninvited. Do you think you look like a good guy?"
Vincent Vaughn?
Nora's heart leaped in surprise. She had known the man's identity was far from ordinary, but she never expected him to be the head of Chicago's Vaughn Family.
Vincent let out a soft chuckle and glanced at the bodyguard next to him.
The bodyguard understood immediately. He dragged a chair over and placed it firmly at the table.
Vincent sat down, crossing his long legs, and hooked his sunglasses onto his suit pocket. He then shot a glance at Nora sitting next to Hudson, a teasing smirk on his lips. "Girlfriend?"
Before Nora could say a word, Hudson had already wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her flush against his side.
