"If I hadn't thrown a fit and forced him to go out, if he hadn't catered to my every whim, he wouldn't have died... I killed him..."
Nora hugged her tightly, her heart breaking for the other woman as her own eyes grew misty. "Sienna, it wasn't your fault. It was an accident. You can't think like that..."
She couldn't even begin to imagine how Sienna had survived these past few years.
Trapped in a web of 'what ifs', even the strongest heart would end up riddled with holes.
Sienna's lips curved into a smile that looked far more painful than crying.
"It was my fault..."
"It was not your fault!"
Sienna lifted her head, a bright, scorching fire burning in her red, tear-streaked eyes.
"Nora, I'm going to take Jared's work back."
Nora looked at her and gave a firm nod.
"Okay. I'll help you."
The two lingered in the exhibition hall a little longer. Sienna's emotions had stabilized considerably, though a flicker of agony still crossed her eyes whenever she glanced toward *A Walk in the Clouds*.
Just then, Nora's phone buzzed.
She glanced down at the caller ID. It was Hudson Lancaster.
"Hello?"
"Where are you?" Hudson's deep, magnetic voice came through the receiver.
"Still at the exhibition."
"Lunch together? Jude Winslow and Finnian Fairchild want to throw us a farewell meal."
Nora glanced at Sienna. "Sienna is with me right now."
"Bring her along, then."
Nora immediately looked to her friend.
Sienna managed a small smile. "Sure, I won't say no to a free meal."
...
By the time the two of them arrived at the private restaurant, it was nearly twelve-thirty.
Nora and Sienna shared another glance, planning to slip inside before this imposing figure could notice them.
"Wait."
A deep voice called out from behind.
Nora's feet glued to the ground, her back going rigid.
She turned around slowly to find the man walking right toward them.
He took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of long, narrow eyes. His gaze swept over Nora and Sienna before finally locking onto Nora's face.
"Excuse me, which way to The Orchid Suite?"
The Orchid Suite?
Wasn't that the private room Hudson had texted her about?
This guy...
Could he be looking for trouble with Hudson?
