[I'm having dinner with Jude and Finnian right now. I'll call you when I get back to the hotel.]
Still no reply.
Hudson's brow furrowed slightly, and he dialed her number directly.
—Hello, the subscriber you dialed is unavailable.
She hung up on him?
His frown deepened. Just as he was about to call again, his phone suddenly chimed.
[I was in the shower and accidentally hung up...]
Hudson chuckled softly, his lips curling into a smile as he typed back.
[Showering this early? Wait for me to get back to the hotel so we can shower together...]
After sending the message, Hudson suddenly realized the room had grown too quiet. He instinctively looked up, only to find Finnian and Jude staring at him in unison.
Hudson slowly put his phone away and raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong? Why are you looking at me?"
"Married men really are built differently..." Finnian smirked. "Reporting in to your wife?"
His tone was teasing, clearly meant to poke fun at Hudson.
To his surprise, Hudson nodded matter-of-factly. "Of course I have to report in. You single dogs wouldn't understand."
Finnian was speechless.
...
Meanwhile, at the Northampton International Airport.
After sending the message to Hudson, Nora let out a long breath.
That was too close!
When Hudson called earlier, she panicked and hung up by mistake.
Once she realized what she'd done, she hurriedly sent a text to explain.
She just didn't know if he bought it.
"Madam, should we call Arthur and ask which hotel the Boss is staying at?" Olive suggested excitedly.
Arthur felt like he had lied more today than in his entire life. After a brief pause, he answered steadily, "Archer didn't mention the Madam in the call. Should I call back and ask?"
"No need." Hudson waved his hand. "Alright, you can step out."
He figured he would just call her when he got back to the hotel.
He had been busy all day, from the emergency meeting in the morning to the project discussions in the afternoon, barely touching his phone.
The only message he sent Nora was during dinner.
He wondered what his little girl was doing.
Was she missing him?
She must be, right?
After all, she had been so reluctant to let him go before he left.
Thinking of Nora, Hudson's lips naturally curved into a smile, melting away the usual coldness in his eyes.
Sitting across from him, Jude noticed the smile. He instinctively lowered his gaze, concealing the emotion in his eyes.
