Penelope looked troubled. "Jade, I really don't know. I haven't contacted him in a long time..."
"Stop pretending. You've brought him home and lied to me that he was a distant cousin. Don't think I don't know..."
Hearing this, Marcus's face changed.
He could accept Penelope having an ex-husband who went to prison.
But he couldn't accept her still hooking up with him, making him a cuckold.
"I really don't know where he is. He already left San Francisco." Penelope panicked. She didn't know the person she least wanted to know was standing right next to the phone.
"Do you have his number?"
"No..."
"Fine, won't tell me? I'll tell Dad..."
"No, no, I'll tell you..." Penelope was terrified Jade would embellish the story, so she reluctantly gave Arnold's number.
"Jade, don't tell your dad, I..."
Before she finished, Jade hung up.
Jade looked at Marcus's livid face and smirked.
"Dad, you heard that? I wasn't lying! Penelope and Nora have been deceiving you! Getting involved with her biological father, yet acting like a delicate flower in front of you. Isn't it disgusting?"
"Enough!" Marcus yelled.
Jade startled. "Dad..."
"A girl like you throwing around the word 'bitch,' is this how I raised you?"
"Dad..."
Before Jade could finish, an urgent knock came at the door.
Marcus frowned at Jade. "What's going on?"
Jade stammered, "I... I just went to Nora's company and pasted... a few papers..."
Marcus understood.
"You... you're ridiculous!"
"Dad... I don't want to go to the police station... I won't go..."
Marcus took a deep breath, patted her hand. "Don't panic. I'll go with you."
The police car was parked outside. Jade's face was chalk-white as she was taken into the car.
Marcus followed in his car, frowning deeply.
He never thought Jade would be so stupid as to paste Slanderous Posters downstairs at Nora's company.
