Sienna's expression didn't falter; if anything, her smile deepened.
"Liana, you might want to pace yourself. If you pass out from anger again, your brother is going to have to sleep with me just to coax some blood out of me."
Liana felt like she was going insane.
"Who the hell do you think you are? You're nothing but a blood bag, and you dare talk to me like that?"
Sienna didn't move. She didn't even look at her.
That blatant dismissal completely pushed Liana over the edge. She stormed forward, raising her hand to slap Sienna across the face.
Before the slap could land, her wrist was seized mid-air.
Liana froze, following the grip up to meet a pair of cold, clear eyes.
Nora had stood up at some point, stepping firmly in front of Sienna. She held Liana's wrist with a grip that didn't seem forceful, yet no matter how hard Liana yanked, she couldn't break free.
"Let go of me!" Liana's face was flushed red.
Nora didn't let go. She just kept her grip firmly in place, staring Liana down with an expressionless face.
Trembling with fury, unable to break free and unable to strike, Liana funneled all her rage toward Sienna.
"Sienna, you're nothing but a whore! No, you're worse than a whore! At least a whore gets paid for selling her body. And you? You throw yourself into Finnian's bed for free, and you still have to give me your blood. How pathetic can you be?"
"A woman like you isn't even fit to shine his shoes!"
"Did you really think you could marry into the Fairchild family? Keep dreaming! My father would never allow it! A penniless nobody like you trying to climb the social ladder?"
Nora snapped.
She released Liana's wrist and immediately delivered a stinging slap across her cheek.
*Smack!*
The crisp sound echoed through the room.
Liana shook with rage, her cheek and ribs throbbing painfully. Tears streamed down her face in utter humiliation.
She had never been so thoroughly embarrassed in her entire life.
"You... you just wait!" she hissed through gritted teeth. She turned and stumbled out of the room as fast as she could.
The door slammed shut behind her.
The room finally fell silent.
Sitting on the sofa, having watched the entire spectacle unfold, Sienna couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Norie, you were so fierce just now."
Nora was still fuming, her cheeks puffed out as she looked at her friend with a mix of heartache and anger. "How can you still laugh after being insulted like that?"
Sienna smiled and reached out, pulling Nora down to sit beside her. "It's not worth getting angry over her. Come on, take a deep breath."
Nora sat down, her chest still heaving slightly. "Sienna, you're too nice to her. That's why she thinks she can walk all over you."
