It was just a brief crossing of glances.
But from across the table, Gwen caught the explosive, crackling tension flying between them.
She clapped her hands, cleared her throat, and announced, "Take a seat, everyone! Dinner is on me tonight!"
Eliza sat rigidly between the two men.
Her scalp practically prickled with anxiety.
Meanwhile, sitting across from them, Hudson let out a silent sigh of sheer despair.
What terrible crime had he committed?
Why did he go looking for his sister, and why did he blindly follow her to this godforsaken dinner?
Right now, he felt like even breathing was an intrusion.
However, both of them severely underestimated Gwen's talent for stirring up trouble.
Just as the food was served, Gwen picked up a glass of juice, smiling like a mischievous instigator.
Her eyes locked straight onto Eliza.
"Eliza, you've suffered so much these past three years, but that's okay. Out with the trash, in with the new!"
"Garbage belongs in the dumpster, and we have to look forward!"
Gwen was blatantly throwing shade without a care in the world.
Zander's knuckles turned white as he gripped his water glass in fury.
He gritted his teeth and fired back, "Gwen! Watch your mouth!"
"Oh, did I name any names? Why are you in such a rush to claim the title of garbage, Zander?"
Gwen rolled her eyes, instantly rendering him speechless.
Then, without missing a beat, she suddenly pointed a finger at her brother, who was actively trying to blend into the wallpaper.
"Eliza, what do you think of Hudson? Just take a look!" Gwen's eyes sparkled, pitching him with the enthusiasm of a seasoned salesperson.
"Hudson Jordan! A renowned prodigy in Riverport's business world, officially listed on the Forbes 30 Under 30!"
