Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 189

Eleanor's face turned completely ashen in an instant.

"Zander Roth!"

"I signed the divorce papers!" he roared, his voice trembling as he raised it, though his glare remained utterly unshaken. "You and Dad pushed me to the brink, and I did it. I accepted it."

"But you expect me to bring another woman—to grab her paperwork—and march right back to the exact same counter Eliza was just sitting at—"

His Adam's apple bobbed violently, his voice cracking into a ragged, guttural growl torn straight from his ribs.

"You want me to marry someone else in the very same room where her name is still fresh on the computer screen?!"

The sheer ferocity of his outburst completely silenced Eleanor.

The entire lobby went dead quiet. The clerks and the handful of couples waiting to get married snapped their mouths shut.

No one had expected a back-to-back divorce-marriage reality show. Every eye in the room zeroed in on Eleanor and Zander, dissecting the drama.

Deeply humiliated, Eleanor quickly lowered her voice and grabbed his arm: "Son! I didn't force you! It was just convenient, and today is a tremendously auspicious day. I paid a master to check the charts, it's destined to bring prosperity to the Roth family..."

Zander didn't even look at her anymore.

As he stormed out of the lobby, he marched straight past the glass doors.

Parked right outside was the black Buick GL8.

The privacy shade on the back window was cracked open—Yvonne's perfectly powdered face peered through the glass, her eyes shimmering with eager anticipation. She looked absolutely immaculate, like a blushing bride dreaming of her future, her fresh waves tumbling gorgeously over her shoulders.

She spotted Zander.

An incredibly sweet smile instantly blossomed on her face. She tapped lightly on the glass twice, mouthing the words—

"Zander."

Zander shot her a single, deadened look.

Then he completely ignored her.

He walked right past the minivan without breaking his stride or giving a single nod of acknowledgment.

He marched straight to his Range Rover, ripped the door open, and threw himself inside.

The engine roared to life.

The SUV tore out of the parking lot.
