Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 41

How agonizing that must have been.

Just like her, she could no longer dance!

Julian was such a wonderful senior, such an amazing doctor—how could anyone not feel for him?

She let out a silent sigh.

The past month would ultimately fade into nothing more than a dream.

On her second day back in Riverport.

At exactly nine o'clock, they appeared at the City Hall entrance.

Eliza scoffed inwardly; surprisingly, he hadn't broken his promise this time.

Zander looked like he wanted to say something, but she turned on her heel and marched right into the lobby.

The process wasn't as smooth as she had hoped.

Because they had filed for divorce previously, they had to wait out the mandatory thirty-day cooling-off period, and now the clock was resetting.

The clerk finished the paperwork without even looking up.

"You're all set. Keep the receipt and come back in thirty days to finalize the divorce."

"Both parties must be present. If you miss the deadline, the filing is automatically canceled."

Zander remained completely silent from start to finish, feeling as if he were trapped in a nightmare.

Eliza gripped the receipt, a wave of suffocating frustration washing over her.

Why did she have to wait another thirty days? She didn't want to look at Zander ever again.

Staring at the man across from her, she took a deep breath.

"Mr. Roth, it's unfortunate, but it looks like we'll have to see each other one last time."

"Eliza! Where are you going? I'll give you a ride," Zander offered, forcing a light tone.

"In thirty days, I expect you to be here on time," she interrupted calmly, meeting his gaze.

"From this moment on, for the next thirty days, it's best if we don't cross paths."

With that, she turned and walked away without a second of hesitation.

The words died in Zander's throat.

He watched helplessly as her figure grew smaller in the distance.
