The very first thing Eliza did upon returning to Gwen's riverfront penthouse was call her lawyer.
"Mr. Sterling, please draft a new divorce agreement."
On the other end of the line, Arthur Sterling paused in surprise. "Ms. Shaw, wasn't the previous agreement already sent to Mr. Roth?"
"That one needs to be adjusted," Eliza stated, weighing her words carefully.
"He's about to hold a public wedding soon, and I don't want any legal or nominal ties to him whatsoever. I imagine he wouldn't want to bear the infamy of bigamy, either."
"In the new agreement, I'm walking away with nothing. I don't want a single asset. The only condition is that he signs it immediately."
Since Zander was in such a rush to give his 'good sister' a proper title, she would play the gracious host and clear the way for him.
Hanging up the phone, a glass of warm milk was pressed into her hand.
Gwen, clad in silk pajamas, casually flipped her freshly curled hair and scoffed. "Leaving with nothing? Eliza, you're letting that blind bastard off too easily! If you ask me, we should sue him until he doesn't even have a dime to his name!"
"Let it go, Gwen." Eliza took the milk, the warmth seeping into her fingertips slightly easing her pale complexion.
"Let it go, I'm truly exhausted. I just want to buy some peace."
"Fine." Gwen pouted, sitting down next to Eliza and wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
"Wasting brain cells on that scum is an insult to our intelligence anyway. I've got everything packed, so you don't need to worry about a thing. For the next few days, you're rolling with me to eat and drink the finest. We're going out to sea to unwind! Is your hand feeling better? Let me see."
"Look, it's all healed. We can leave anytime!"
A week later.
