Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 162

"He has an extreme personality and a stubborn streak. I discipline him the most, so he... probably sees me as a father figure."

He paused.

"And he's incredibly territorial."

After saying that, his gaze lingered on Eliza's face for a split second before quickly shifting away.

"Let's go. Let's head inside."

...

The dining room of the Lawrence Estate was located in the east wing of the main courtyard.

It featured a modest round table, perfectly sized for six people. Seven or eight dishes were already laid out, and a bowl of hearty, golden chicken broth sat in front of every seat, steam billowing up from the freshly removed lids.

Vivian sat near the head of the table. The thirty-six-year-old woman exuded a calm, grounded elegance. Her features strongly resembled Julian's, complemented by a chic short haircut, though she carried an effortless, commanding authority that he didn't.

When she saw Eliza, she naturally stood up, taking her in with a quick, appraising glance.

"You must be Eliza."

"Nice to meet you, Vivian," Eliza said, dipping her head slightly.

Vivian's eyes briefly swept over Eliza's left leg before seamlessly returning to her face, a warm smile breaking out.

"Julian hasn't stopped talking about you, he's practically talked my ear off. Come, sit down. Let's eat first."

"This afternoon, I'll take you to the back courtyard to have the specialist take a look at you."

Eliza was seated right next to Julian.

The chair directly across from her was empty—

Logan's seat.

Five minutes into the meal, he finally dragged his feet into the dining room.

He hadn't changed out of his sweatpants or fixed his hair. Wearing a heavy scowl, he stomped over and dropped heavily into his chair, making the wooden legs screech harshly against the stone floor.

Vivian frowned. "Sit properly. Have some manners at the table."

Logan pouted, shoving his chair back slightly to give the illusion of sitting up straight.

He shoved a forkful of food into his mouth, but his eyes kept darting diagonally across the table, glaring at Eliza.
