Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 161

The Lawrence Estate was nestled halfway up a hillside on the outskirts of the city.

The car wound its way up a narrow, unmarked road flanked by towering camphor trees, their dense branches blotting out the sun. After navigating three sharp bends, a set of courtyard doors with grey tiles and white walls finally appeared at the end of the path.

The entrance wasn't massive, even bordering on understated—a far cry from the opulent billionaire mansion Eliza had imagined.

But the moment the car pulled into the courtyard, she understood.

The exterior was modest by design; the true grandeur lay hidden within.

The courtyard was expansive, designed with a traditional layout featuring stone-paved grounds and wraparound corridors. In the dead center stood an ancient elm tree that had easily lived for a century, its massive canopy casting shade over most of the open space.

Iron lanterns hung beneath the eaves, and terracotta planters sat in the corners, brimming with unfamiliar medicinal herbs.

Everything was quiet and grounded.

Just like the people who lived there.

Julian parked the car near the entrance, stepping out first to walk around and open the passenger door.

The moment Eliza found her footing—

A black-and-white soccer ball shot out from the right like a bullet!

It flew with terrifying speed and force, aimed directly at Eliza's injured knee.

Julian's reaction was faster than hers.

He stepped sideways, reaching out to pull her back while using his own body as a shield. The ball slammed hard into his calf, bouncing off and rolling away toward the edge of the flowerbed.

Eliza stumbled back a half-step, her heart skipping a beat.

From behind a pomegranate tree in the center of the courtyard, a teenage boy in baggy sweatpants stepped out, hands on his hips.

His hair was a messy mop, and a faint bruise lingered on the bridge of his nose—the remnant of a recent fight.

He tilted his head, looking Eliza up and down with an unmistakable expression of hostility.

"I saw you at the police station."

Logan's chin lifted slightly, his voice carrying that reckless, arrogant edge unique to fifteen-year-old boys.

"Are you the woman who keeps Julian running around every day?"

The atmosphere instantly froze.
