Summer sighed, setting her stirrer down and leaning across the table.

"I've never met Jarrod, but based on what Lucca told me, I honestly think the guy has feelings for you. Is it possible he's targeting the Quinns and pushing for this divorce just to force you to surrender to him?"

Stella traced the water droplets on her glass. She calmly recounted everything Jarrod had done for Chloe Huxley, along with the endless patience and tenderness he showed the other woman, concluding that that was what real affection looked like.

Summer still wasn't convinced. "But if he's so madly in love with this girl abroad, why even bother coming back? Even if he was just putting on a show for Grandpa Fuller, he could have just made a quick appearance. He didn't have to sleep with you, did he?"

Stella paused. It was true that Jarrod didn't visit often—sometimes going two or three months without coming home. But whenever he did, he approached their marital duties like a starving predator, keeping her awake half the night.

"Maybe he just couldn't hold back his urges until the divorce was finalized, and he didn't want to touch his precious sweetheart yet," Stella murmured.

"That's a massive stretch."

Summer shook her head. "Stella, is it possible that the prenuptial agreement completely walled off your heart? Maybe he did show you he cared, but your subconscious was so fixated on the contract that you just ignored it?"

Summer's words dropped like a heavy stone into a tranquil lake, sending unexpected ripples through Stella's chest.

In her mind, Jarrod had always felt more like a strict boss than a husband.

She dutifully completed the tasks he set, never talked back, and certainly never entertained foolish fantasies about 'love' or 'affection.'
