Having spent enough time around him, Stella knew this was his tacit way of waiting for her to explain.

"I had no idea he was going to be there," Stella clarified. "He said he was visiting an older relative and just happened to drop by to check on my grandmother since he knew she was admitted."

Jarrod kept his eyes on the monitor, but his gaze was clearly unfocused.

Stella continued, "He had barely been in her room for a few minutes before he suddenly collapsed. I was the one who called the doctor for him."

"The doctor said his condition requires medication to manage, and he fainted because he missed a dose that day."

She laid out the facts methodically. "Once Skylar arrived, I left and went straight back to Royal Oaks."

"Jarrod, I did have feelings for Logan, but that is entirely in the past. Since I've already let him go, I would never initiate contact with him again."

As she finished speaking, the cold, distant edge in Jarrod's expression softened fractionally. "Your business with him has nothing to do with me," he replied, his tone flat.

Stella nodded. "I know you don't care. I simply wanted to state the facts."

Jarrod offered no response. A heavy silence settled over the study, broken only by the faint hum of the computer and the quiet rhythm of their breathing.

Stella broke the quiet once more. "Jarrod, your arm is injured. You need to rest properly instead of working non-stop."

He paused, finally lifting his eyes to look at her. "Why pretend to care now? You certainly didn't bother checking on me the entire time I was in the hospital."

Stella was rendered speechless.

She had zero desire to argue over what happened in his hospital room that day, nor did she want to bring up Yvette.

Instead, she deflected, "I've been overwhelmed with work at the factory lately. But don't worry, I promised Julian that I'd stay here at The Sterling Residences to help take care of you until your arm is fully healed."

Jarrod let out another dark chuckle, though it was impossible to tell what he was thinking.
