Stella avoided Jarrod's piercing gaze, keeping her eyes firmly on the floor. "Mr. Fuller, I am truly sorry. It will never happen again."

Standing before him, clutching her laundry bag, Stella's slender frame looked almost fragile. She pressed her lips together nervously.

There was a small split on her bottom lip, slightly swollen and red.

She had bitten it herself last night in her drunken frenzy, and the wound had only gotten worse when he forcefully took her lips in retaliation.

Suddenly, Jarrod lost all patience with the conversation. He let out a cold scoff. "You really know how to play hard to get."

With that, he strode over to the coffee table, picked up his phone, and dialed his driver.

Stella was left standing there in silence.

By the time Stella changed her clothes, washed her face, and walked out of the bedroom, Jarrod was already gone.

His coffee sat half-finished on the dining table, a clear sign that he couldn't stand being in the same room as her for another second.

Stella stood quietly for a moment. She tossed the pajamas she had borrowed into the washing machine, straightened out the cushions on the couch where she had sat, grabbed her purse, and left the apartment.

While waiting for the elevator, she finally replied to a few of Summer's panicked texts.

Summer had been incredibly worried about her.

Because yesterday, when Summer was at a local diner, she had seen Logan—and he had been getting extremely cozy with another woman.

Knowing how much Stella loved him, Summer had tried to warn her, but Stella had been way too hysterical to process any of it.

After hitting send, Stella tucked her phone back into her bag.

Suddenly, she remembered something.

She frantically dug through her purse—the cashmere scarf she had bought for Logan's birthday was gone!

Had she dropped it while waiting out in the rain by the gates last night?
