Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 240

Chapter 240

Third Person’s POV

Mortimer let out a hollow laugh, his eyes stone-cold.

His Alpha aura surged through the office, intense and suffocating.

Still sprawled on the floor, Vivian paled, her eyes locked on Mortimer as he stood up with absolute indifference.

His tall, imposing frame cast a shadow over her as he looked down with contempt. “I’ve repaid you a hundred times over. Everything your family has-protection, status, wealth-all of it came from me. But you were never satisfied. You even reached for what was never yours-the place beside me as my mate.”

Every word landed like a hammer blow, shattering the entitled certainty Vivian had clung to.

Trembling, she looked up, only to meet a pair of bloodshot eyes-cold and utterly merciless.

Then Mortimer spoke again-and his words struck her like a bolt from the blue.

“Vivian, back then… was it really you who saved me?”

At the time, he’d been gravely wounded-hovering on the brink of death, his wolf barely holding together. When he finally regained consciousness, he didn’t question it. After all, if someone else had saved him and his mother, they wouldn’t have stayed silent for over a decade without ever asking for anything in return.

Besides, Vivian had been the one who called the ambulance. She had also been the only one waiting at the scene when the paramedics arrived. So he’d never doubted her.

For years, she’d played the kind, innocent, and fragile Omega to perfection. Blinded by his own assumptions, he’d never suspected a thing.

If she hadn’t repeatedly gone after Seraphina, enraging his wolf, it never would have occurred to him to investigate what had happened all those years ago.

He’d always thought himself clever-the Alpha who held the Blade pack in his grip.

Now he realized he’d been the biggest fool of all, played for years by the entire Davis family.

Vivian froze in fear.

Her instincts betrayed her–her face twitched, and guilt and panic flickered in her eyes, plain as day to Mortimer’s sharp Alpha

gaze.

“M-Mortimer… why… why would you ask that?” she stammered. “O-Of course it was me… If it hadn’t been for me… you and your mother would’ve…”

She held fast to one last shred of hope: without a confession, he had nothing.

After all, the incident was over a decade old, and there had been no surveillance cameras back then.

If Mortimer ever discovered who had really saved him that day, she-and the entire Davis family-would be finished.

So she absolutely couldn’t admit it.

“You’d better pray my investigators find nothing,” Mortimer said.

Done with her, he turned to the floor-to-ceiling windows without sparing her another glance.

Then he pointed toward the office door and ordered coldly, “Now, get out of my territory.”

Desperate, Vivian resorted to the same trick again. She scrambled forward on her knees, reaching for his leg.

Betare her fingertips could brush the fabric, disgust and fury flashed across Mortimer’s eyes. He turned and kicked her away without hesitation. The force sent her flying several meters across the office.

“Mortimer!” she screamed. “Please believe me! For old times’ sake, just help my family this one last time! I swear I’ll leave Los Angeles and never come back. I’ll never bother you again! Please… Mortimer…”

She curled over, clutching her stomach as she sobbed uncontrollably.

She reached for Mortimer again, but his overwhelming Alpha aura formed an invisible wall that kept her at a distance.

Just then, the company’s elite security team arrived after receiving a call from Tade. They were all burly, their eyes cold and

hostile.

“Alpha Mortimer,” they called out.

“Throw this woman out. Revoke her access to the Craig Group. Anyone who lets her in again will spend the rest of their lives as

rogues.”

Vivian didn’t even get another chance to plead. Two burly guards grabbed her by the arms and dragged her out of the CEO’s office without the slightest mercy. Moments later, they flung her onto the road outside the building as though she were nothing more than a piece of foul-smelling trash.

Her palms and knees were scraped raw, and her clothes were in disarray.

She lay sprawled on the ground, unable to move.

When she finally tried to struggle to her feet, the heavily armed guards at the entrance turned toward her, their cold stares pinning her in place.

Slumped on the pavement, Vivian stared blankly at the towering Craig Group headquarters shimmering beneath the sun. A bone -deep chill spread through her.

She couldn’t understand it. How had everything changed in less than two months?

Once, Mortimer had called her “Vivi” in a low, tender voice. Then, his tone cooled, and she became “Vivian.” Today, he referred to her simply as “this woman”-as if she meant nothing to him.

How could he be so heartless?

What was she supposed to do now? How could she save Everreach Building Materials?

As Connor’s grim warning from last night flashed through her mind, despair washed over Vivian. She burst into tears on the busy street, clutching her swollen cheek.

Meanwhile, in the CEO’s office, Mortimer stood before the window, staring at his chat with Seraphina. He typed and deleted, typed and deleted-but the message never went out.

Vivian’s words about Caldwell had gotten under his skin.

So… that man was also at Shadowfang Academy?

Who was he to Seraphina?

Why was he always by her side?
