Hearing my mate’s low whimpers as she turned and tossed in my arms kept me awake all night. I knew she was having the same dream, and I immediately did everything I could to calm her, but surprisingly, nothing was working.

A few hours before daybreak, Katie’s low murmurs turned into a loud cry for help.

“Wake up, Katie!” I shook her trembling body.

But even that didn’t seem to cut her off from the dream she was having. While I was still trying to wake her, Luna Aurelia and Auntie Susanna barged into our room, ready to help Katie. If I thought ending Jarrett’s life would mark the beginning of our peaceful life, I had thought wrong.
