Princess Katie Anne

The roar of the crowd couldn’t drown out the sounds from my throbbing heart. The minute they collided, my heart began to race erratically, not because I was scared but because Davien was excited.
And as his mate, I could feel his excitement burning within me—a fierce, fiery thrill that made my own pulse quicken. There was no weapon. Just their fists, but every hit that followed their clash echoed like a thunderclap in my chest. Yet beneath that, a different rhythm beat—one of raw anticipation as I wondered how this would end.
In my favor, or would the outcome slash my throbbing heart into unrecognizable pieces?
Hell, maybe I am a little scared. After all, that was my mate over there—engaging in a fistfight with a complete lunatic.
“He will be okay,” Zoe muttered with conviction. “This is not the battle of Alphas. There are no rules, which means we can help him if needed, and from what I can see, we won’t be needed.”
While one of my wolves was oozing with confidence, the other whispered, “The no-rules part of it is exactly why I am terrified. Jarrett is ruthless, and he would do anything to win.”
I couldn’t let my wolves' opinions distract me because I would certainly join this fight if I had to. However, my heart swelled with pride as I watched Davien move with lethal grace, sweat gleaming on his brows as he dodged Jarrett’s sharp blow.
“Attack me if you dare!” Jarratt spat, frustration prickling his skin.
Davien has been on the defense since they collided, and that didn’t sit well with Jarrett. The air crackled with tension as Davien smirked but didn’t make any move to attack first. I knew my mate well enough to see his confidence, but I could also see the fiery edge in his eyes—a hunger that threatened to shove him into recklessness.
And that scared me because reckless was no way to win a fistfight, especially with someone as calculating as Jarrett.
“You are a weak-ass man!” Jarrett barked, lunging forward with his fist aimed with brutal intent.
And just like that, everyone in the arena began to cheer for Davien, making it known that even though he didn’t have to prove his worth to them, they were in full support of him proving Jarrett wrong.
If Jarrett was once amused, that feeling faded and was quickly replaced by anger. He snarled, throwing his fist toward Davien’s stomach. “I will kill you, bastard.”
He missed again, and Davien retaliated with a swift, hard punch to his face, splitting Jarrett’s lips in an instant. Despite Jarrett's relentless attempts, he continued to falter over the next few minutes, while Davien maintained the upper hand, delivering blow after blow with relentless precision.
That made me and the majority of the crowd happy, but it simply fueled Jarrett’s blazing rage. Before anyone could stop Jarrett or warn Davien, Jarrett rushed over to one of the guards who was engrossed in the duel and snatched his sword.
Afterward, he raced toward Davien, giving him no time to get a weapon as well. We all knew that going into a sword fight with bare fists would reduce one's chances of walking out of the fight alive.
“What do I do?” I asked myself—and, of course, my two wolves—but before any of us could come up with something, Dolf did, tearing through Davien’s skin like lightning.
