The next morning.
Vivienne stretched lazily as she walked out into the courtyard. "Marissa! Marissa!"
"Coming! What's wrong, Miss Lexton?" Marissa was in the middle of making breakfast. Hearing the shouts, she abandoned her ladle and rushed out.
Vivienne pointed aggressively at her right eyelid. "It's so weird! My right eyelid has been twitching since the second I woke up."
"Is it?" Marissa leaned in for a closer look. "I think you're right. Hold on a second, Miss Lexton!"
She sprinted back into the house and emerged a moment later, pressing a thick red envelope into Vivienne's hand. "Here, take this. It wards off bad luck and brings fortune."
Vivienne didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Marissa pushed it firmly into her palm. "Take it! It's always better to be safe than sorry."
"Thanks, Marissa."
Marissa was entirely used to the casual dynamic now. She waved her hand warmly. "I just made a warm bowl of oatmeal. Eat before you head to school."
Vivienne nodded as Marissa bustled back into the kitchen. She stared down at the red envelope, completely lost in thought.

Julian's grounding wasn't over yet, so the burden of chauffeuring duties fell squarely on Alaric.
Because of the delay that morning, Vivienne left the house later than usual.
The moment Wesley Crain saw her, he leaped out of the driver's seat and opened the door with exaggerated flair. "Your carriage awaits, Princess."
Vivienne had been looking for an excuse to torment Wesley ever since the turtle-stealing incident, but the man was as slippery as an eel. She couldn't find a single flaw to exploit. Pouting in defeat, she slid into the back seat.
Alaric glanced over, his eyes stopping on the massive, diamond-encrusted pink backpack slung over her shoulder.
A new bag.
Catching his stare, Vivienne proudly lifted it up. "Gorgeous, isn't it? Godmother had it custom-made for me. It's literally more expensive than this car."
Alaric frowned. His aunt was fine in most aspects, but her extravagant spending was out of control, and it was quickly turning Vivienne and Bianca into hopeless shopaholics.
"It's mediocre," he said flatly. He genuinely couldn't comprehend the appeal of neon pink.
Vivienne's face instantly went dark. "What do you know about fashion?"
If he had no taste, he didn't deserve her conversation.
She clutched her backpack to her chest, turned her back to the Ravenshire heir, and crossed her arms. "From now on, whoever speaks first is a dog."
"..."
Alaric was utterly speechless. You couldn't find a girl with a worse temper in all of Stormhollow Deepwater Port if you tried.
Wesley instantly pushed his glasses up his nose, his face turning dead serious. "That won't be necessary, Boss."
Alaric gave a curt nod and headed toward the exclusive VIP entrance.
Wesley silently adjusted his glasses, raised his hand in the shape of a gun, and aimed it at Alaric's retreating back.
Pew. Ruthless boss, consider yourself assassinated!

The morning passed peacefully. The moment the final bell rang, students flooded the hallways.
Vivienne and Bianca waited until the classroom was mostly empty before packing up.
"Vivi, what do you want for lunch?"
"Whatever."
Vivienne was completely drained. Her right eyelid had been twitching non-stop all morning, and she was thoroughly annoyed.
"Fifth floor as usual? I'll order ahead."
After placing the order, Bianca turned around and paused when she saw Vivienne wrestling her massive backpack onto her shoulders. "We're just going to lunch. Why are you bringing that heavy thing?"
Vivienne tapped the massive pink jewel on the clasp. "Because I'm terrified someone is going to steal my twenty-carat diamond."
