Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 583

Graham set down his teacup, looking his grandson up and down. "Did the sun rise in the west? You actually have something you like? And how long is this fleeting interest going to last?"

Power and fame were things Preston was born with. It wasn't an exaggeration to say his life was so effortlessly smooth that if he wanted the stars from the sky, they would be handed to him. Because of this, he viewed everything with a detached sense of appreciation rather than genuine affection. Once the novelty wore off, he lost all interest.

Everyone in the family knew about this fatal flaw.

Just then, the phone in the main hall rang. Simon glanced at Graham before stepping over to answer it.

"Yes, understood."

A moment later, Simon hung up and turned back. "Sir, it was a call from the Whitmores. Elder Mr. Whitmore is inviting you over for tea."

Preston stood up, brushing off his clothes. "Grandpa, stop worrying about my hobbies and start thinking about which side we're going to take."

"Get back here!" Graham snapped, annoyed. "Can't you see I'm stressed? The Ravenshire kid has already taken the reins of his family. Aren't you going to offer any advice?"

Preston shook his head. "Forget about it for now. Just wait a few more years for me."

Graham grew even more frustrated, slapping his thigh as he sat up straighter. "Wait, wait, wait! That old Ravenshire's grandson is already firing bullets at Frederick, and I'm still waiting to see you achieve anything!"

Preston paused, his expression turning thoughtful. "If you really want to compare us, Grandpa, I can have that old man killed by tomorrow. Do you want that?"

"..." Graham was completely speechless. No one knew the grandson better than the grandfather. Anyone else would just be talking tough, but Preston would actually do it.

Snapping back to his senses, Graham exploded with rage, jumping to his feet. "Are you trying to send me to an early grave?! Or do you want to drag the whole Everhart family down with you? Do you think the Whitmores are that easy to touch? They control the high-speed rail and light rail systems! They hold half the nation's transport infrastructure in their hands. If the Whitmores go down, half of Athelvia's transportation network paralyzes! Did you even think about that?!"

They were all a bunch of debt collectors sent to torment him!

Preston's expression remained perfectly bland. "That's why I told you to wait a few years. Once we swallow up the Whitmores' resources, then we can make our move."
