Audrina shoved him away and adjusted her rumpled collar, deciding he wasn't worth another word.
How could he be such a shameless rogue?!
...
The moment Audrina got home and set her bag down, her phone rang.
She picked it up, and before she could even say hello, the voice on the other end exploded.
"I'm doomed, I'm doomed, I'm doomed—"
Audrina held the phone away from her ear, waiting for Willow to drop a few decibels before bringing it back. "What's wrong?"
"My mom moves way too fast!" Willow wailed, radiating absolute despair. "I barely just walked through the door and she's already arranged blind dates for me!"
Audrina, in the middle of taking off her shoes, couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Oh."
"'Oh'? That's it?" Willow fumed on the other line. "I'm being marched to the execution block and that's your reaction?"
Slipping into her slippers, Audrina walked into the living room. "What, do you want me to hire a marching band to celebrate?"
"Audrina Monroe!"
"Okay, okay." She curled up on the couch, her tone lazy. "When is it? Do you want me to come vet him for you?"
"Next week," Willow practically ground out through her teeth. "Don't bother. I'm currently trying to figure out where to hide."
Audrina genuinely couldn't picture Willow on a blind date.
She had been fiercely impulsive and loud her entire life, but the Sinclair family would undoubtedly demand she act the part of the perfect, delicate little socialite.
Just imagining that sight made her burst into laughter again.
Willow got even angrier. "Stop laughing! I honestly don't get what the rush is, I'm not even twenty-six yet! In her eyes, it's like I'm checking into a retirement home tomorrow!"
"I'm not laughing, I'm done." Audrina tried her best to compose herself. "How about I give you a tip?"
"What kind of tip?"
On the other end of the line, Willow sensed this couldn't be anything good.
Audrina casually added, "You've already slept together anyway. Practice makes perfect."
"!!" Willow absolutely couldn't listen to this anymore.
She deeply regretted making this call. "Are you talking about me, or are you talking about yourself? Who exactly is practicing until perfect here?"
Willow started rapid-firing: "I haven't even interrogated you yet! You and... him, are you guys practicing to make things perfect, too?"
"If you have all this free time to worry about my life, you should spend it figuring out how to handle your mother." Audrina was done chatting. "Gotta go, babe. Bye."
And with that, she immediately hung up.
Listening to the dial tone, Willow stared blankly into space for a long time.
She couldn't shake the feeling that Audrina had been acting incredibly strange ever since she got on that cruise.
While they were drinking the other night, Carter had briefly mentioned the incident in the dining room that morning.
Was it really necessary for Audrina to put on such an affectionate display with Zachary right in front of them?
