Bait for a Gentleman novel Chapter 145

By the time Audrina stepped out of the hospital, it was late afternoon, and the setting sun was painting half the sky in fiery hues.

Facing the sunset, she raised a hand to shield her eyes and let out a long breath. She had finally secured the key to unlock her chains.

Tearing off the facade she had maintained for the Sutton family made her feel incredibly light. She walked briskly toward the parking lot.

But just a few steps out, a familiar Cullinan slowly pulled up to the entrance of the inpatient building.

The back door opened first, and a woman in her fifties stepped out. She wore an elegant smoky-gray designer trench coat, her hair impeccably styled, and a pair of emerald pendants hung from her earlobes.

She possessed an extraordinary aura, practically radiating impeccable breeding.

From the passenger side emerged a tall, middle-aged man whose features bore a striking resemblance to a certain someone.

Taking a closer look at the license plate... it belonged to that certain someone as well.

Then, the driver's side door opened.

Sebastian stepped out of the car, shutting the door casually. The moment he looked up, his eyes met Audrina's.

She had never met Sebastian's parents, but seeing the three of them standing together, the family resemblance was undeniable.

Sebastian and his father looked like they were cut from the exact same mold, separated only by a couple of decades.

The younger man didn't seem to be in a rush.

He stood by the car, one hand resting on the roof, his head tilted slightly as he looked at Audrina with a teasing half-smile.

Behind him, the Hawthornes followed his gaze.

Audrina lowered her eyes. She could have easily walked over and offered a polite greeting, but she genuinely couldn't figure out what Sebastian's playful expression was supposed to mean...

She planned to detour through a side path, but it was completely blocked off by construction barriers. The only way out was straight past the hospital entrance.

Audrina had no choice but to take a deep breath and brace herself.

She stopped in front of him. "Mr. Hawthorne, what a coincidence."

Then she looked at the couple behind him and offered a polite nod. "Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne."

The couple gave slight nods in return.

Eleanor's eyes swept over her discreetly, analyzing her without giving anything away.
