Yuvonne:
I was in the basement, in my room.
I wasn't chained or in shackles.
Rosetta had asked me to stay here for a while, and I trusted her.
I had no reason not to.
I had heard Elara and Bodhi were in the same mansion.
I wanted to see them, but she suggested it wasn't a good idea right now because Lady Eugenia was also on the third floor.
The fact that she had tried to kill me, and then my mother had ended up dying, weighed heavily on my mind.
There was an impostor living in my home, pretending to be my mother.
I took a deep breath and covered my face with my hands, sighing.
Rosetta had left her phone with me so I could see everything that was happening.
Of course, my parents weren't in the crowd.
Rosetta had told me that the maid in my mother’s appearance, the one Rosetta had asked to work for her, had accepted a bribe from Lady Eugenia and decided not to reveal who she really was.
Instead, she continued living her life after accusing Madeline and placing all the blame for my death on her.
I couldn't wait to get out of here and get my hands on her too.
At the same time, I caught sight of Ron on the phone's screen.
He was there in the crowd today.
He looked handsome, but there was sadness in his eyes.
Dark circles shadowed them too.
There were moments when I noticed his stare was completely blank, as though there were no emotions or dreams left behind his eyes.
It broke my heart, and a small whimper escaped my lips.
I quickly silenced myself and set the phone down beside me.
Then I heard nothing but my own heartbeat pounding in my ears.
That had been happening for the past three or four minutes.
Maybe it meant I'd finally be able to leave this room.
I wasn't sure, but something was wrong.
Then I heard footsteps outside the room.
It wasn't Rosetta.
She never stood outside my room like this.
Not like someone lurking.
As the door opened, the man I had been desperately waiting to see walked in.
He thought I was dead.
So when he saw me, I watched his face turn pale and his lips lose their colour for a brief moment.
Nala was beside him.
She had been on the stage earlier as well.
I should have known he would never move on from me so easily.
After we had hugged and kissed, he finally pulled away.
He turned towards the door, then looked back at me.
"Has she been holding you hostage?" he asked, and I immediately understood how it must have looked.
"No," I replied, gently curling my fingers into his shirt. "She saved me."
As soon as I said that, Ron frowned at me.
Even Nala took a deep breath, as though they both thought I was defending the wrong person.
"But she has Lady Eugenia staying here," Ron argued, and I nodded.
I ran my hands up from his neck to his face, cupping his cheeks.
He immediately began to calm down under my touch.
"That's because she's helping us. She's helping us with far more than we realise," I explained, watching Ron's lost expression.
Instead of asking more questions, he hugged me again.
It seemed it wasn't going to be easy for anyone to separate him from me, at least not for now.
I could almost hear his heartbeat pounding in his chest.
He was truly, truly happy.
To him, I was a dream he had thought he'd lost forever.
So now that I was back in his arms, he refused to let me go.
